I b!tched, I'm done, when September rolls around & he is in a Ranger sweater, I'm over it & rooting hard for him to succeed.

Yup, nothing more we can do as fans. Its depressing though, cause everything I read up on Glass puts him in the the bottom of the league in almost every category for a forward.

Watch Glass score 20 next year and be our best PKer.

I think Glass is a better skater than Boyle...and he's gotta be at least as good at shooting

For those saying Boyle is somehow in a bigger role. No way he's surpassing anyone in that top 9 of TBs

Serious question. Outside of Hank, would you swap rosters?

Im just going by Boyle's own words. He said he wants more money, and a bigger role in his next contract. Which I assume meant off the 4th line.

The glass signing needs to be viewed like Brashear and then we can move on.

Not as bad as that signing, cmon. Brashear was such a hated goon for years by us, from his days as a Flyer, cheap shotting Kasparitis, gooning it up as a Capital on Jagr, the fight with Shanny, then the coup de grace, the nasty shot on Betts in the playoffs. Then just a month or so later we let classy Betts go & sign Brashear & of course he was a useless steaming pile of sh!t in the 10 games or whatever he played with us.

Could not disagree more.
Boyle, although a decent playoff, is dead weight. Dan Boyle is an upgrade over Stralman and only signed for 2 years.
Never did I see this coming with all this squabble and crying over a marginal # 4 dman and a 4th liner.

Signing pouliot at that price the oilers gave him is insanity. Love that we wouldn't/couldn't match

- Blueshirts16

With you on all 3 counts. Stralman was getting seriously
Overrated. Yeah, he's good but hasn't proven it over a long period
For beans.

Definitely sad to see Boyle go at what Tampa gave him, no need to go Glass route plus add two more D-men at $600k on one-way contracts. Keeping such a good 4-th line intact would've been easier to swallow with losing Pouliot at Stralman than now blowing up 2 lines and our 2nd d pairing.

I hate that Glass singing and losing B Boyle. Why the need for those cheap D men on one-way contracts, can they even be sent down to come off the books? I guess they can be waived later on.

Tampa really got better even though they overpaid for Stralman.

so anyone still disagree with the premise of my Sather blog from yesterday after seeing what transpired today?
- airjan23

The AV factor plays a role here. How much, is pure speculation, but Sather gave Torts his kind of guys. I am not happy with Boyle leaving but it was his free choice and Sather was not the sole decision maker. Last years roster was a hybrid. Going forward will be more AV influenced. That said, Callahan's departure didn't bother me, this one does, whether or not it makes hockey sense. I am surprised Brian left. Disappointed.

The end of the day Glass is a Ranger and we all have to get used to it. I hope people don't let Tanner Glass ruin their summers

I guess after the fourth line doing so well these playoffs, I can no longer say we are worrying too much about some fourth liner. But, I'm willing to give the guy a shot. Hoping the organization sees something in him that the entire rest of the world doesn't. If your looking to save cap space, however, the decision to pay him $1.5 million is obviously perplexing. Don't mind anything else they've done or haven't done because I thought that attrition was inevitable.

Pouliot was a no brainer, but we didn't have to over pay to keep Stralman and Boyle, we saw what the turnover did after we lost to NJ, Sather tries to reinvent the bottom 6 every year, we finally had depth and chemistry now we have to hope the replacements work out, we're wasting time, Hank can't slip ever or we're screwed

There's a few posters in here who ARE JUST GLOSSING OVER THE LOSS OF "marginal 4th liners" but how many times did we see our 4th line in the playoffs make a HUGE difference, how many other times like 2 years ago w the Devils did we see the 4th line contribute? Its not no big deal. I'm glad we kept Dom Moore but the other 2 on that line are gone & there's no denying Boyle could have & SHOULD have been kept for the $ Tampa gave him.

That being said, again, I'm done chirping. Moore centering Glass & a young guy (Fast, Lindbergh...Duclaire?!)will be what we're looking at I guess.

How about this? John Moore to the Islanders for a Josh Bailey with the Islanders retain a $1 million of his cap hit, bringing his salary to $2.3 million or so. Similar career paths for these guys and would help both teams at a need position, with both clubs taking a chance the guys figure it out. I know, crazy to imagine an Islanders Rangers trade.

Im hoping Moore's hockey smarts rub off on Glass. Probably never played with someone with his hockey IQ.

If anything Stralman is underrated, some of you guys sound like Sather just pissing on our own players, we'll just see what kind of chemistry the have come This season

Won't happen, in 40 + years how many have there been? 2/3? And they've been so marginal, I can't even remember them. Rich Pilon for a draft pick? He might have been a waiver pk up, highly unlikely.

People have a right to different opinions, Vin. It's should never get personal when people don't agree. I like the Boyle signing. Others do as well. Some don't. There are reasonable arguments to be made on both sides, and I don't think the answer is obvious one way or the other. But, no matter what side we are in, we should always root for the acquired players. I once called Brassard, in temporary anger, a 26 year old bust out, and now I love the way the guys plays.

Vin, Stralman had a great playoff run. Check him out before that. Dude scored 1 goal this year. I know his defense was top notch in the playoffs, that was awesome. Given our tight cap situation, just didn't see it working out.

Also on the bottom six, some guys over priced themselves.

You knew we had no wiggle room with the cap and everything. Sather/Gorton have to be careful not to strap the team for next year when Staal's deal is up.

We'll see if the guys they brought in can impress.

This time last year you were probably just as upset, when we had Pouliot, etc

With Toews and Kane demanding 10+ million each, I'm surprised they didn't buy out Hossa...

I feel like Chicago is screwed.
