Maybe the Rangers give Ribeiro a one year deal at about $1 million, and take the chance that he sees his career could be over if he doesn't address his issues. And, if he doesn't you waive him and send him to Hartford if no one picks him up. Or, maybe you trade John Moore for an equivalent player at center who is an RfA, to a team that needs D over center. - Pete V
The way Maloney kicked him in the balls on his way out the door there had to be something personal between the two. Is he really that much of a douche or is there more there? |

I really don't have a problem with Glass. Maybe too much money but not worried about a 4th liner. And certainly not gonna shed a tear for Boyle.
This thread looks a lot like it did when Montreal signed Prust. Now I ask ya, who here misses or even remembers Prust (aside from hit on Step)
- Blueshirts16
In the MTL series I kept thinking how great Prust woulda been instead of Dorsett. Dorsett was suppose to replace Prust and was no where near as effective. |

YEA but Prust's deal was way worse than the Boyle deal. This is absolutely a deal Sather should have signed him to.

For an extra 600k we could have Boyle instead of Glass. I am tired of all the apologists in here coming up with reasons why every move outside of Glass was smart. I've never been more negative on July 1 before. - mrhattrick27
600k extra is a lot with how tight we are to the cap.

Okay, say we move Boyle down to the 4th line. Then we have $1M to sign a 3rd line center....everyone is female doging about losing depth but how deep are we really if Rod (frank)in Pelley is our 3rd line center? |

He is damaged goods right now, and that may create an opportunity, but I have no idea how bad things are with him, so there would be some obvious due diligence that would have to be done. |

Matt....(frank)ign....hunwick. Found your 600k. OH or MIKE KOTSKA or whatever the (frank) his name is. I don't need 8 dmen. |

Couldn't tell you, but I don't see any reason why Zucc wouldn't start his offer at $5M. He's worth that on the market for sure. Anything less than that is a hometown discount in my eyes. And the fact that he started at that number does show he's willing to take a slight one...but we he will still get paid over $4M probably. |

Sather needs 8 dmen. He's said multiple times he believes in having 8 NHL calibur dmen to make a deep run.
Those guys prevent a Roman Hamrlik (or should I say Dan Boyle ) situation back there again. |

And I think the Glass deal was all AV and nothing to do with Sather. |

True, but there is a history with Glass and AV. I'm predicting this will be a mirror image of the Pyatt situation. |

Hey man, I can see where your frustration is coming from. It feels like the summer before last where we lost Feds, Prust, etc. and replaced them with guys like Halpern and Powe. But really...it's Brian frickin Boyle. Before this Spring, everyone wanted to get rid of him for 4 or 5 (frank)in years. Everybody was complaining about his $1.7M cap hit like it was the worst thing to happen to NY since 9/11.
If you look at it objectively, we effectively replaced Stralman with Dan Boyle and slightly downgraded from Dorsett to Tanner Glass. Hell even if you consider Glass Boyle's replacement...it's really not that big of a downgrade
Our success in terms of depth next year hinges greatly on Fast and Miller. Obviously we're uncomfortable right now because those 2 are unknowns. We can't tell whether they will succeed or not. But their upside is far great than Brian Boyle's or Derek Dorsett's so our depth might be even better. And remember, we still have room for 1 more forward. If Sather can pull off signing Ribeiro or Vrbata or Setoguchi, I really like this new roster. |

Tried to give Chris Neil a 4 yr deal that same yr as Brash but took less to stay in Ottawa don't forget too. I'll keep saying it, Carcillo could have been had for cheaper & we already know he can play here, exact same player, maybe he's better than Glass. |
