Thank you!!! His choice to leave seeking a "bigger role" and the want to "score more goals"
He will never be a top 3 line forward. Good riddance!
Don't be surprised if Anthony Duclair makes this team next year either. - Blueshirts16
Now that would be sweet |

Could you imagine if Boyle had half the toughness of a guy half his size in Zucc? |

I don't have a problem with anything that was done today except Glass. Worst move of any team today. Sure I would have loved to keep Pouliot, Stralman and Boyle, but not for what they got or the role they wanted with the team.. |
|
|
|
Besides Tanner Glass, I'm okay with today. Still a lot of good depth guys out there and John Moore could be a solid trade chip.
Would've rather kept Dorsett over Glass, but whatever.
Some people are female doging about not signing Boyle for $500k extra instead of Glass...you need to realize we have about $2M left for 1 more forward now. Signing Boyle drops that to $1.5M. $500k doesn't look like a lot when comparing the players but it's a monster difference when you consider how little cap space we really have.
With Zuccarello asking for $5M and Brassard having a very good case to get $4.7M and Kreider who could potentially force Sather to give him a bridge deal closer to Hagelin money...we really didn't have many other options. Every couple $100k count. |

There's gotta be something to Glass...right? RIGHT?!!?
I mean...even Pitt fans said Bylsma kept on going back to him. Good lockerroom presence??? Something....please? |

For an extra 600k we could have Boyle instead of Glass. I am tired of all the apologists in here coming up with reasons why every move outside of Glass was smart. I've never been more negative on July 1 before. |

Sather needs to go now. The guy can't multitask or something? He has a one-track-mind and only sees who he wants. How could he let B Boyle go gor about $500k more than he dished to fvcking Tanning Glass!
What the heck is going on?!? Sather secretly on the Isles payroll?!? - mames11
Seriously, I cannot believe he let Boyle go for 500k more a year than what he gave Glass. Ill drive his senile ass to the airport |

I'm not seeing it. Everything I read on him basically says he shouldn't even be in the NHL. I posted a fact based link on Glass's last season with Pitt. Lets just say after reading it I had the urge to wander into traffic. |

@PLeonardNYDN: Brian Boyle to Tampa Bay. Three years, $6.9 million. Good team, his good friend Teddy Purcell used to play there, & his wife is from TB
Maybe his wife had a big influence on this |

No, I think we just dropped the ball. Period. Boyle said he wanted to stay. |

Ok, and what line other than the 4th would you have put him on? That was his demand. Dude showed he blows outside the 4th line. |

Everyone DOES realize if Boyle plays center in TB he is their 4th lien center not 3rd. Right? |

Maybe the Rangers give Ribeiro a one year deal at about $1 million, and take the chance that he sees his career could be over if he doesn't address his issues. And, if he doesn't you waive him and send him to Hartford if no one picks him up. Or, maybe you trade John Moore for an equivalent player at center who is an RfA, to a team that needs D over center. |

And yes, I absolutely agree with you, if Boyle wanted to be on the 4th line here with that contract he got from Tampa, sign me the (frank) up. I'm just going by his own words that he was not signing here as a 4th line player. |

I'm confused by everyone going TB EXPANDED ROLE! No. That's simply not true. If he plays wing then yea, he would be 3rd line as it stands as their 8th forward. |

I really don't have a problem with Glass. Maybe too much money but not worried about a 4th liner. And certainly not gonna shed a tear for Boyle.
This thread looks a lot like it did when Montreal signed Prust. Now I ask ya, who here misses or even remembers Prust (aside from hit on Step)

Sather coulda offered Boyle that deal. He didn't. Pouliot? Seriously we weren't in the same ballpark. Any one of us woudla done the same thing. |
