It's not, but with the other centers out there, Lecavalier was really not going to be anyone's first choice. Teams knew the Flyers were looking to dump him, and that there was not likely going to be a land rush to nab him, so they'll wait it out and see if option a, b or even c lands in their yard. Plus, trading for Vinny now opens up cap room for Philly and maybe allows them to dip into the free agent pool more aggressively.

After today, when the dust has settled a bit, teams will have a better idea of where they really stand and then we have a better chance of movement.

That makes sense. I just don't want to see him on the roster again. I have nightmares of seeing a VL-Schenn-Umberger line

So. Just so I got it straight... Flyers signed Rob zepp, Blair Jones, and Ray Emery?

I won't mention niskanen as I'm sure its a sore subject..

Personally, I would go with a lineup like this:
Schenn-G-Voracek
Read-Vinny-Simmonds
Umberger-Couts-Raffl
Bellemare-Laughton-Akeson

I feel like it's a good combination of size, speed, defense, and scoring along the top three lines. 4th line is an energy line that can hopefully pitch in a couple of points throughout the year.

Imo, with lines like this, the departure of Hartnell will be negligible

I would try that.

I wonder if Vinny is the one who doesn't want to go to Nashville.

I just feel the longer it drags on, the more likely it is that he won't be dealt.

- PhillySportsGuy

I thought the whole point was that he wouldn't be traded until after July 1, so the team acquiring him wouldn't have to absorb the bonus he was due.
Imo, if he's not dealt within a week, he'll be on the opening night roster.

Never really expected them to go after Niskanen. Actually did pretty much what I expected them to do. Hextall wasn't going to go nuts. He's patient and has a plan.

Pierre LeBrun, who is a reputable source, said the Flyers had solid interest in Brad Richards.

I think it's more that they kicked the tires if they were able to move Lecavalier today.

My first instinct was, and remains right now, to try Lecavalier on Giroux's RW. My issue is who to try on the LW there. Maybe Schenn or Umberger to start?

It's not ideal, but if they get stuck with him, they have to find the best way to make it work.

I wanted them to try him on G's RW all season. My fear is that if he doesn't work in that spot, he's useless. They've tried him everywhere else.

He played LW last year. He cannot play the left side. I'm not excited about playing him on RW either.

He's a Center and has been his entire career. So there is another option than RW.

No, when he signed the thought of him playing RW with Giroux was mentioned. He did have a hat trick vs the Isles playing RW on Giroux's line.

If that happens, would Voracek move to 2 rw and Simmonds to 3rw? Or move one of those two to lw? Also, would you add a 3c or 4c?
Just curious, because I feel like that combination adds holes to the roster (assuming Vinny is on the opening night roster)
