Not crazy about him. But I think there's a good chance that the Flyers are going to let the dust settle, and sign a 2nd tier free agent forward at some point. As well as maybe a 7th defense type.

i mean id have liked an extra year or two tacked on at that rate. guess he just sees how being a pen for a year, poopty results aside, pretty much doubles your market value.

Willie Mitchell got 4.25M a year
Andrej Meszaros got 4.125 a year
Brooks Orpik got 5.5M a year

There's no question as the top defenseman on the market, that Niskanen took a discount. As did Ehrhoff.

When you compare to other ufa signings it looks pretty good. 5.75M x 7yrs. A bit long term. He would be 34 when the contract would be up. I'm surprised we didn't match that and Philly is better suited to make a cup run then WSH I would think.
