It's not next to impossible. There is no poor cap management. And the Flyers have 4.7M to work with. They also could make other moves to add more flexibility. Free Agency lasts for more then 2 1/2 hours and the Flyers are obviously being very selective.

Very selective....oh thank god....and I thought it was because they had no $ to spend....god your thick.

Yep, and I doubt Umberger fills the top line winger. So we dropped Hartnell for cap relief later and a lesser player. I wasn't thrilled, but I do think if B Schenn or Read, even Vinny played on G's wing all season they'd put up at least Hartnell's #'s...
- FlyersGrace

Its a 2 year shorter deal with Umberger, for basically the same cap hit. Hextall was stating that it gives them flexibility when the kids need new deals. I can live with that because the Hartnell contract was another idiotic move by Holmgren.

Just don't like taking back a lesser piece as you say in Umberger. Those minutes could have been given to a younger kid on the team. I would have been happy with just a pick back but so be it. We got to see what kind of value Hartnell had with the contract. I expect him to be productive in Columbus for 2-3 years. They made a good deal exploiting a team in cap trouble.

Doesn't 40 years constitute a long run?

I meant by not having participated in some of the crazy contracts being given out today. Shouldn't you be on a bridge right now?

The difference here is that I know the facts, and I know the numbers. And I'm informed on the salary cap. Anyone can just ring up criticism just to criticize witout the facts behind it.

Isn't it nice for them to actually take their time and think rather than be quick and make rash decisions for a change?

Let all of these other GM's overpay out the butt for players for a change...

I'm here and perfectly willing to look at the reality of the situation. Let's look at the numbers and the facts. I'm happy to discuss them.

YES! It may not be as exciting the day of FA but man I'm looking forward to them getting even better.

I could care less.

Go lick Holmgren's balls and tell me how the facts taste. I have my thoughts you have yours. My penis is large enough to handle the disagreement. Is yours?

I thought most were saying Stralman would be good value at 3/$3, not 5/$4.

I am cool with that. Organic re-build time.

Ehrhoff does kind of sting because he would have been a nice piece going forward. The rest are very meh. I will be curious to see if Hextall can work any magic with LeCavalier. Seems only Florida and Nashville are options now.

Again... how don't they have money? They have assets that can potentially be liquidated. On top of the $4+ cap space they have to spend, they can trade any number of players with NTC/NMC. I listed the numbers earlier... apparently you just like arguing with MJL...

Ehrhoff was only going to take that deal to play for a team that he feels is ready to win now. That's why he was willing to sign that deal in Pittsburgh.

Ek, was reporting that the Sabres may have interest in Vinny as well.
Hextall has repeatedly said that the most likely option is for Vinny to stay in Philly. so I won't be shocked if he's here another year.
Ehrhoff wanted to become Niskanen
Get on a team which will help him put up massive points for a year and then he can get paid. I doubt he would have given us even remotely the same deal. But I agree it would have been nice.

Wonder if there's any NTC/NMC there. It's (maybe) important to remember AMac's deal doesn't have anything. If one was included, maybe some dollars would have come off.
