Upgrade their team where possible.....alas there poor cap management makes it next to impossible.....hopefully Hextall does a better job then Holmgren...which shouldn't be hard.
- landros 2

Just because they don't do anything today doesn't mean they can't improve over the summer. Could let some things play out. Maybe they are trying to see what happens today because teams might have to move some pieces to fit their new signings or a team that doesn get what they want today might be in position to make a deal later.

It's not next to impossible. There is no poor cap management. And the Flyers have 4.7M to work with. They also could make other moves to add more flexibility. Free Agency lasts for more then 2 1/2 hours and the Flyers are obviously being very selective.

one would say hexy is showing restraint today but on the other hand i think it is more of him showing off handcuffs homer built.

By the way, what the crap is Edmonton doing? They are throwing away money like its nothing.
- aflyerpower8

Desperately trying to make the playoffs. Mac must know he will be in hot water.

Also like what the Lightning have done around this UFA period. Clear money and Stralman has a respectable contract imo.

Cool your poop baby. Its only a playful jab.

Nobody is burning a Flyers jersey. You will have your chance to defend Holmgren's legacy as the season rolls along. That fool left them with little flexibility that will take a while to clear up. How he still has a job with the team is kind of laughable.

Hartnell is a better hockey player then Umberger....I understand why it happened, but those are the facts...
- landros 2

Yep, and I doubt Umberger fills the top line winger. So we dropped Hartnell for cap relief later and a lesser player. I wasn't thrilled, but I do think if B Schenn or Read, even Vinny played on G's wing all season they'd put up at least Hartnell's #'s...

It is not fun watching all the other teams get shiny new toys but I think they'll be better off in the long run.

This one is the closest analog to AMac. Got 20% less on the open market.

The difference here is that I know the facts, and I know the numbers. And I'm informed on the salary cap. Anyone can just ring up criticism just to criticize without the facts behind it.
