I'm not even mad about the Flyers being idle through this process. I'm mad that guys like Boyle and Ehrhoff took discounts to play for the Rangers and Penguins.

They've haven't had to remake their team. They already had a real solid foundation -- and then just Spezza and Hemsky to their second line, behind the Benn-Seguin-Nichushkin line.

However, the Dallas D corps is still suspect at the NHL level. Still a bit too undersized/ not physical enough. There are plenty of good young D in the system, however.

Could I interest Dallas in their old friend Grossmann in exchange for a draft pick or younger D prospect?

I had a brain cramp, was thinking they'd gotten Kesler (who went to Anaheim, not Dallas).

Ehrhoff is actually getting a modest raise (when you combine his buyout money from Buffalo plus his one-year salary in Pittsburgh), which is why he was agreeable to it.

Love what Nill is doing there, very exciting for Dallas fans

It will be interesting to see if Spezza re signs there

Flames Hiller 2-years $4.5M

(Pierre said if he had been hired by PIT as their GM, he would have targeted Hiller, lol)

and if he has a sizeable offensive output playing with all of Pittsburgh's firepower, he'll probably get something more than a modest raise next year.

He could have gotten a major raise though. Just infuriating and jealous. I'm not holding it against him. He's taking a pay cut for a better chance to win. I just wish he was doing it for us and not them

They have a virtual clone of Nick in Patrik Nemeth, except much younger, healthier and cheap (still on ELC). I think Nemeth is NHL-ready now as well.

I don't think Pittsburgh's gonna win, regardless -- still got Fleury in the net and James Neal's character wasn't the only one in question, as far as I'm concerned
