Can always add grit at the TDL (in the form of Ott, or somebody else)... right now, I'd be worried more about becoming a better possession and defensive team at evens... need 4 lines worth of NHL players to make that happen (sorry Zac, Rosy).

Possibly affecting the Predators activity in free agency is the $13 million check they have to scratch to Shea Weber today.

Good.

I hope Weber spends every last bit of it on hookers and blow.

my comment was in response to bill's perspective on going after ott and the flyers not having a guy like that in the system to bring in cheap, like dallas did.

If we want a young gritty forward I would look at Leo Komarov as he has skill and speed too. Coming back from KHL. COuld be a solid 3rd or 4th line.

Most likely no one, which is why I think he re-signs here by July 3rd or so.

I hope Hextall has higher standards for goalies than that.

Sounds like a guy who just wants to hang out at base camp all day, or just wants to be a race car passenger.

I'd prefer somebody in the 27-30 range, who's capable of a baseline .905-.910 SV% for the year, and who won't get torched east-west on the PK.

My choices would be Chad johnson, Thomas Griess and Al Montoya. All back ups that know thier role and can do it in the limited action.

The Flyers are singing the song, "...ain't got no money, but sure gotta whole lotta brotherly love..." blues. That's what you get for signing those long term contracts, and older players. You quickly find out what you have, and what you don't have.

Perhaps, you should make a tinder profile for this type of goalie

It's also what happens when their superstar's ginormous contract kicks in

My hope is that the Flyers do a whole bunch of nothing. Tired of ridiculous contracts to over 30 year old players and no cups to show for any of it. Team is more than 1 player away. Keep making moves where we rid ourselves of the longer term contracts. Combined with some player development, we should be good in a few years.....

I'd be oddly OK w/ BizNasty... replaces Hartsy in every way in the room... and you wouldn't feel bad about never dressing him... ever.

If you are going to play Mason 62-65 games, which I think is the plan, then I'm fine with Emery for 17-20 games per season provided the cap hit is no more than 1million. He's a good teammate and gets along very well with Mason which is very important in my book and he is more than capable in a back up role. Plus, if the Flyers are going to be making a stronger effort in adhering to Berube's defense first system, that will only help a guy like Emery.

I have long been a proponent of as much balance across a team as possible and not be married to the one or two "stars" that cost too much to build a team.

with that in mind, I put together a free agent team. All of the forwards averaged less than 16 minutes and the D men 20 minutes of ice time. I also gave everyone a 30% raise and projected goals out to 70 games for those that played less.

I get to a little over 200 goals and a payroll of 66M

Jokinen/Hemsky/Havlat
Penner/Grabovski/Pouliot
Morrow/Bolland/Downie
Conacher/Goc/Moss

Benoit/Stralman
Fayne/Meszaros
Ranger/Mitchell

Hiller/Peters

I am betting the payroll of that team actually comes in closer to 63M which lets me sign my back-up skaters and probably upgrade a D man.

Just for giggles

He's a terrible fit for a team that takes a lot of penalties.

Well, they're definitely better than the Sabres.
