They really do need a center for him. I am still having an issue with all these teams so far under the floor, VL is not an option. You would have thought he was Tanner Glass making that money. - Deasr1
I'm a bit surprised as well. It seems like a lot of money was given out. VL's cap hit is insignificant for the low budget teams. His actual salary averages $3.62M over the next 4 years. Thats not that bad. |

True, we will see the entire thing by October and we will have to root for the logo not the name.Hell, we might not even know some of the names. |

Meh, could be worse. Switch Simmonds and Schenn. Then Read on LW and Schenn on RW, |

Roll Akeson over Rinaldo and I'd be okay with that if they indeed cant move Vinny. |

I wonder if Vinny is the one who doesn't want to go to Nashville.
I just feel the longer it drags on, the more likely it is that he won't be dealt. |

It's not, but with the other centers out there, Lecavalier was really not going to be anyone's first choice. Teams knew the Flyers were looking to dump him, and that there was not likely going to be a land rush to nab him, so they'll wait it out and see if option a, b or even c lands in their yard. Plus, trading for Vinny now opens up cap room for Philly and maybe allows them to dip into the free agent pool more aggressively.
After today, when the dust has settled a bit, teams will have a better idea of where they really stand and then we have a better chance of movement. |

Mixed feelings on that. Lecavalier is a proud player, who probably feels like he has something to prove. But it's out in the open, that the Flyers have been trying to move him. Even gave his agent permission to talk to other teams. So why would he want to stay here? There's two things going on. Either there isn't much of a market for him at this point. And I emphasize this point in time. Or any offers the Flyers have received, have been completely unsatisfactory to the Flyers. And either have too much salary retained, or having to take back a contract they don't want.

I don't see Akeson as a fit for a 4th line role. Either plays on a scoring line, or goes back to Adirondack in my view.

Personally, I would go with a lineup like this:
Schenn-G-Voracek
Read-Vinny-Simmonds
Umberger-Couts-Raffl
Bellemare-Laughton-Akeson
I feel like it's a good combination of size, speed, defense, and scoring along the top three lines. 4th line is an energy line that can hopefully pitch in a couple of points throughout the year.
Imo, with lines like this, the departure of Hartnell will be negligible |
