If they had a legit shot at either Bogosian or Byfuglien I would still pursue those avenues outside of that I am happy.
I would consider Couts for Bogo, not for Buf and noone is off limits (in this scenario) save Claude.

Just about every mediocre to bad team in the East made improvements today. Im sorry but I cant share the enthusiasm. It could be a rough year with this roster as i with what everyone has done around us. - hereticpride
Lots of people are talking about standing pat, and not spending any money. That all sounds good right now. Until the games start, and fans see where the needs are. Then the tune changes. They need this, they need that. The GM didn't get this done. Now they overpay at the deadline. Patience is easy until it's required to exercise it.

For me when I read about his lateral movement, especially on the PK. I think it's about time that this team shores up it's discipline and takes a hell of a lot less penalties. And they also need to drastically improve the team defense, and find consistency there. If they can do that, Emery will be fine. And he brings a lot of intangibles to the team that are a big help. - MJL
Yeah that's true. But I think he also doesn't have great vision seeing the puck cross the ice. He seems to react slowly and than move slowly immediately afterwards. |

I'm sure they'll circle back to it when the budget isn't so (frank)ed.... meanwhile, lot of un(frank)ing left to do. - Tomahawk
I really want them to move VL though. Bringing him back would be such a waste. They'd throw him on Schenns line again and it'd be like groundhog day. |

Why does it need to be spun?
And the first thing I'll spin is to correct you on the numbers. It's 750K more per year. |

those are areas - discipline especially - they need to fix regardless of who is net, but i agree...it will help emery a lot to not be constantly put in that position. it would also help if they give him some goal support. he got virtually nothing all season long. he's still capable of stealing games too. |

My frustration stems more from the fact that the Vinny contract realisticly kept us out of this entire FA crop, not from a lack of patience. |

Also think next time someone like Stamkos is a free agent, UFA or not, guaranteed 40+ goal guys are as rare as shutdown d-men. We should have maybe taken the hit ans signed him when we had the chance. |

I disagree with that. The Lecavalier contract has not kept the Flyers out of the entire FA crop. The Flyers had about 4.7M to work with before signing Emery.

No what the spin is? It's the Flyers so there is nothing but negativity. Not to mention a lack of understanding about what's going on.

Hexy is making a point probably. I just thought we had a shot at making a playoff run. I guess we still kind of do, if RJ, Raffl, Akeson, Laughton and this Bellemare guy really step up their game. |
