SV% in general is highly variable, especially PK SV%... I wouldn't exactly guarantee that Emery will be terrible again on the PK. - Tomahawk
He's not going to get any more mobile and the PK is where teams are able to really move the puck east to west in a hurry. |

He's an injury risk, and his lateral movement is sloth like. Nothing against Emery, he was decent last year, would have preferred they went in a different direction. Would have liked Greiss. - PLindbergh31
I think Griess signed in Pitt because he probably has a commitment from them to compete for a starting role. Next year Fleury is UFA. he is young and hasn't had a chance to hold onto a job so that is why he sprobably signed. We have our future with Mason and then Stolarz |

They have a new system. Probably lost some undisaplined penalties. Myabe they have a new commitment to team defense. Free agecny wasnt completed in one day. Still think the Vinny deal will really be the start for the flyers. The more that goes down without Nashville involved the more I think ny ends up there - J35Bacher
The thing is, taking the time to find a home for VL, you have tons of guys coming off the board in the process. |

Fair point.
The only issue is, if Mason were to go down, have little faith Emery would hold up with a starters workload. |

Emery isn't the type thats going to steal you games. If you keep the puck in front of him, he does a good job finding the puck through traffic. He's not built to play pond hockey. He's built to play behind structure. |

I agree, but again, it's not like we're doomed. The $ is fair. |

There were a lot of games the Flyers just didn't play well in front of Emery. I'm not sure how you quantify that. Bad breakdowns and such. Yea, he isn't lightning quick side to side. Most teams try to prevent those types of chances |

I hope he'll put himself between the puck and the net often enough to get up to .910. |

Me too, this is controversial but I think Emery deserves to be on this team after what I believe saved our season- beating Holtby to a pulp |

I agree. The backup goaltending wasn't really a problem. The year before was a major backup problem |

Yeah but in a way I am ok with that. I wasn't really that big on the UFAs this year. If we want patience there wasn't anyone i really wanted to bring in other then maybe some bottom 6 guys. Next year I think you can maybe look to add some pieces. But this is at least a two year reshaping |

yeah but how many teams are really ok if their starter goes down?
I mean that is why they are back ups. Look at Montreal. Budaji is their back up and yet in the playoffs they went with Tokarski. |

True. Not a great ufa crop for sure. Some pretty good players were signed to reasonable deals today, obviously would have loved to have Ehrhoff at 1 yr 4 million. |

Not under any illusions that Greiss or Montoya or Chad Johnson would fare any better. |

By hold up I don't mean compete at a .915+ save %, I mean hold up physically. He would likely get injured. |
