I call BS on that premise. If they NEED salary then why compliance buyout Jovo or sign Bolland for 5 years. 5 years with all that wonderful youth is a receipt for disaster IMHO. He has never had a 20 goal season. I know hockey is more then goals but 5.5M for a third line center coming off injury. Terrible

Mez went from "KHL candidate" in the beginning of this past year to playing his way into another deal. Unbelievable.

Free Agency is a two way street. Teams can contact him. And lot of times it's just faxes of offers sent to an agent. I'd be willing to bet that he received a bunch of interest and offers.

I wouldnt doubt it... But again.. my point is that no one knows anything for sure. So to say he WOULDNT have taken the same deal with the Flyers... Nobody knows. All we know is that he signed with the Pens for 1 year 4 mil. Done over with.

EDIT: And never did I say that he didnt take a cut. That is pretty obvious.
