Ehrhoff was only going to take that deal to play for a team that he feels is ready to win now. That's why he was willing to sign that deal in Pittsburgh. - MJL
Must be tough, ya know, representing Christian Ehrhoff and spending all day on Hockeybuzz. |

Ek, was reporting that the Sabres may have interest in Vinny as well.
Hextall has repeatedly said that the most likely option is for Vinny to stay in Philly. so I won't be shocked if he's here another year.
Ehrhoff wanted to become Niskanen
Get on a team which will help him put up massive points for a year and then he can get paid. I doubt he would have given us even remotely the same deal. But I agree it would have been nice. - FlyersGrace
I think they would have had to give him a deal similar to MacDonald, maybe a bit less in term.
Cant blame the player there. He made a good deal for now and for the future. Wonder where Niskanen ends. Detriot could be a sleeper. |

Wonder if there's any NTC/NMC there. It's (maybe) important to remember AMac's deal doesn't have anything. If one was included, maybe some dollars would have come off. - eayost
Yeah, MacDonald wanted the most money possible so if he gets traded I don't want to hear any complaints from him or his agent. |

This is a quote from MJL from earlier in one of our threads. I forget where, but I liked it so much I kept it. I thought it clearly explained everything. He has his faults but when it comes to the cap I listen.
"Here is the deal with the Flyers cap picture. Essentially once the Flyers decide how to approach placing Pronger on LTIR, the Flyers upper limit for the season will be $73,942,429. They currently stand at $69,236,429. Giving them $4,706,000 to play with.
Now as far as the off season cap picture in concerned. Flyers were fortunate to not have that many injuries last season. So that helps with the off season cap picture. With the 10% off season exemption kicking in, the Flyers currently have $6,210,482 of off season cap space. That could change if they decide to qualify Gustafsson. Which would decrease that by 1M."

Of course, the problem with that, is that would guarantee them eating into LTIR right away, which would guarantee Kimmo's (and all other) bonuses would hit us hard the next season. |

AMac at 5 years 4.25M per with full NMC or 5 years 5M per with no clauses? Which is preferable?
I don't know to be honest, nor do I know how much one "costs". |

Again... how don't they have money? They have assets that can potentially be liquidated. On top of the $4+ cap space they have to spend, they can trade any number of players with NTC/NMC. I listed the numbers earlier... apparently you just like arguing with MJL... - WarriorHockey21
It's hilarious and sad how many people this applies to. |

I think Timmonen's bonus is the only one which would hit us next season (not sure if anyone else has any bonuses with the Schenn re-sign). I could be wrong there. And I agree if we don't need to use it then we shouldn't. But we need that goalie so I think they are going to have to use the LTIR barring a trade. |

Not gonna happen. Flyers will be stuck with Emery again. |
