I think we all have learned by now drafting outside of the top 10 becomes almost a crap shoot many years.

At least Shero was able to flip the bad picks into a chance at a cup so we wouldn't have to also grumble over how bad the first rounder turned out

Apparently Calgary offered the Hurricanes a 7th-round pick for Cam Ward and Francis declined. Cam sucks. 6.3 millions for the next two years and he is more than likely the backup there. They are up there closer to the cap than normal too. First mistake by Ronnie F.

I have watched him play ALOT like almost as many Preds games as Pens games a year, you will see in a few months he is not what you think he is.
Biz nasty, kind of a joke; but also kind of not.

I think they should try and package Hornqvist and Spaling and try and get Neal.

If you think Hornqvist is a garbage pile, there is no need to even discuss this. . . Penguins problem isn't scoring goals, it's playing a complete game. Hornqvist provides this and we have no idea what Spaling is going to offer until we see him in game action. Moving Neal is addition by subtraction. Get his attitude/bad penalties/lazy work ethic out of the locker room. If the Preds don't sign a top-end center to feed him the puck at the top of the circles, Hornqvist will have more points than him this year.

Boy this feels awfully familiar to every one absolutely loving Dan Bylsma 5 years ago when I said from day one that he was a butt plug, wait and see Hornqvist is not at all what you expect, he is not gritty, he is not tough,he doesn't hit, but he will go to the cage but kind of the same way Jussi goes to the cage to chip in those loose pucks around the blue paint don't get me wrong that is the best part of Hornqvist's game, but he is not this little bulldog that fights and claws around the cage; that's just not him.

I think they are certainly near the top of their list. I will be floored if Kulemin isn''t signed. Pouliot may come pricy and they may walk away.

I've never been as high on Martin as other folks have been. I get all the stats, metrics, etc.. Very good player. No argument there. This one is all about a feel for me.

There is just something missing about that guy. A passiveness to him that just doesn't translate well to playoff hockey. He's not a foxhole kinda guy.

When the going gets tough and you need your d-men to get nasty in a series, he just isn't that guy to me.

I'm all for moving him if we could get a nice package back. One NHL-ready forward and a high pick would suffice.

Problem is the D would have a vet-young guy imbalance. Only vets left would be Scuds and Letang. So, if they moved him, they'd almost certainly have to sign another veteran D-man.

So not as simple as some think moving him.

I'll say this... if they are going to trade him, better do it soon so you can fill in the hole with a vet that is at least serviceable.

Pouliot is a solid player deserves a raise but he has been an enigma his entire career. I'd go 3 years at 2.5

IMO, he serves the same roll on this team that Gonchar did on the 08 and 09 teams. He plays an effective, albeit vanilla game. Nothing wrong with that in the playoffs. No team has ever had 6 Prongers on the backend for a playoff run.

He's been pretty good, just nobody has figured it out until now.

You've thrown out a quite a few targets and trade options lately. Im curious--if you were calling the shots, what moves(signings/trades) would you actually make? Assume any trades offering "fair value" get done for the purpose of this fantasy.
