alright friends... because we are all bored, i have a game.

rank the following in order from most likely to happen to least likely.... GO!

1. Penguins sign a 1b goalie.
2. Penguins acquire a young top 6 winger (kane)
3. Penguins have 5 new bottom 6 forwards by the end of tomorrow
4. Penguins trade Paul Martin
5. Penguins sign a defensmen for over 3 million per season
6. Kulemin signs somewhere else.
7. Penguins trade a roster player not named Rob Scuderi
8. Rob Scuderi is still a Penguin tomorrow night

GO!

Yikes ... Dreger saying on NHL Network to expect Niskanen to get north of 6 million. Folks, we are going to have a strike or a lockout in a few years if this is the case.

If someone will trade us something to get MAF for 1 yr at 5, someone else will pay 5+ for Hiller. I just don't see anything happening with MAF.

I predicted 6 or a shade over. Followed by the team and fan-base absolutely hating that contract for the last 5 years of it.

Would you give up a pick just to unload Scuderi? Say Scuderi+4th Round Pick for a 7th.

I mean, some teams have a hard time attracting Free agents...

Sounds idiotic but I just wanted to throw this idea around.

I would. It would be trading a 4th rounder for a 3.75M free agent and a 7th
Thats a Kulemin, a Pouliot, a Sutter....

Let me preface this by saying I'm not an Adams fan, but people continue to bang the Adams contract way too much for me. He isn't a reason why we are in trouble. He is a cheap player. Get rid of him, how many decent players can you get for his cap hit? Maatta coming in without playing a game in the AHL was making more than Adams. He is gone after this year as well.

That's what you took away from my comment?

$700k in dead weight is $700k in dead weight...it can be spent elsewhere.

Kulemin and Pouliot are two definite targets. Both would be nice gets.

I'd love to see those two lined up with Malkin. Thats a big mobile line that would be a pain to try to contain.

Some teams have a really hard time attracting free agents *couch* Winnipeg *cough* They would be a team we could trade Fleury to if we really wanted to get rid of him.

1. Nikolai Kulemin, LW

Last team: Maple Leafs

Notable: A friend of Malkin whose numbers were lowered by stiff competition and defensive zone stars in Toronto.

2. Matt Moulson, LW

Last team: Wild

Notable: Former Penguin who put up good possession numbers against tough competition.

3. MASON RAYMOND, LW

Last team: Maple Leafs

Notable: Fits the profile of Mike Johnston's vision with good skating and advantages in shot attempts.

4. BENOIT POULIOT, LW

Last team: Rangers

Notable: Will be expensive but has a history of being a possession monster with a good shooting percentage.

5. MIKE CAMMALLERI, C

Last team: Flames

Notable: Drove offense and possession against tough competition on a bad Calgary team.

6. ALES HEMSKY, RW

Last team: Senators

Notable: Dominated possession when he arrived in Ottawa , averaging almost a point per game.

7. DAVID MOSS, LW

Last team: Coyotes

Notable: Great depth addition. Kills penalties and keeps the puck in the offensive end.

8. BLAKE COMEAU, RW

Last team: Blue Jackets

Notable: Performs well despite being put in tough situations and having poor luck.

9. JONAS HILLER, G

Last team: Ducks

Notable: Could be a great compliment to Marc-Andre Fleury if the Penguins are looking to get an experienced duo.

10. DOMINIC MOORE, C

Last team: Rangers

Notable: Scrappy depth player who takes tough assignments and kills penalties.

Get me Kulemin/Pouliot/Goc and I'll be ecstatic.

Some interesting names in there for sure. I think it sounds so enticing because our bottom 6 is so bad, everyone looks like a major upgrade. I really like Goc as 4th line center but he may be too expensive. We need to spread the wealth among the bottom 6 guys.

I don't see Moulson as a great option. He's a good player but I like the idea of having some speed to go with the skill. I'll take Kulemin/Pouliot/Cammallleri..and Hiller. I don't want any of the Moss/Moore guys unless they come dirt cheap and we can get rid of Adams.

Everyone sounds enticing because we are going to have a whole new look team next year. I havent been this excited for the start of the year in forever!
It really seems we are trying to put together a bigger grittier team, can't wait for tomorrow, what the Pittsburgh Penguins are going to be next year could be defined within 24 hours!

Cammallarie is more than likely resigning in Calgary. He isn't in our "wheelhouse" as far as price IMO.

Apparently Calgary offered the Hurricanes a 7th-round pick for Cam Ward and Francis declined. Cam sucks. 6.3 millions for the next two years and he is more than likely the backup there. They are up there closer to the cap than normal too. First mistake by Ronnie F.

I'm with you. The team needed change and I'm not going to complain about them trying. I have my hopes up for tomorrow but there are 30 other NHL teams....anything can happen. Will be an exciting day.

I will say, tomorrow is when we find out how good Jason Karmanos is at his job. Like the players Jesse listed...almost all are really good possession guys.

2007 Draft Round 1:

I'd really like to see draft eligibility moved to 19/20 years old instead of 17/18 like it is now

Prospects would be further developed, and drafting would be a lot more even and accurate - Right now it's a crapshoot and stifles competitive balance
