Can you imagine how sick of a line would this one be: Grabovski-Malkin-Kulemin.
Would it be possible to sign both just a shade under $7M? - Orpik44
After the ridiculous overpriced signings today... sadly no |

So to all the GM wanna-bees including myself, when playing around with FA signings this time next year, add 50% to the expected player salary you are proposing to make it more in line with reality.
Everyone was talking about Hiller as a cost-effective alternative to MAF. Not so much.
Lets sign Pouliot. Nope, way too much.
For all we know, as I type this, Kulemin is weighing offers between 2 teams for north of $5 million/per. - 87_71_11_29
Let's hope the Pens aren't one of them. Far too much for Kuli. |

That's crazy money for him.
I'd take a fly on Booth/Setoguchi before I give him $5m.
Has Cammalleri signed yet? |

Trade Martin, buy out scuds, sign ott and kulemin - jchst22
Can't buy out Scuds. He isn't eligible to be bought out. Same with Adams. No on Ott.

For the most part, I agree. But there are still smart moves to be made so long as a team doesn't too wrapped up in the chase. Make a budget and stick to it.
Point in case, the Ehrhoff signing. For 1st & 2nd-line F's as well as Top-4 D teams always significantly over-pay. Same for guys who had big Playoff years (ie, Pouliet & Stralman). But for 3rd and 4th line guys, you can find some solid bargains if you are just patient. |

They are absolutely eligible to be bought out. They just can't be bought out as a compliance buyout. Everyone on the team is eligible for a buy-out. But only Martin, MAF and Sid are eligible for a compliance buyout. |

Love when people complain about "bad" contracts during the season like letang, dupuis, Martin...and then hide away when orpik and niskanen and jussi will make nearly as much with a lot less production - jchst22
UMM ... Dupuis and Martin don't have bad contracts. Letang does when you consider he misses 30 games a year for starters.

Anybody think Booth or Seto would work as bottom basement signings? Guys that might be able to rejuvenate their careers? - madmike71
I really think Booth would be a good signing, he looked very aggressive on the forecheck at the end of last year and was throwing his body around. He didn't work out in Vancouver but he did have a 30 goal season. I don't think he can replicate that again but he has a better shot than dupuis and plays the same high tempo game. |

They are eligible, just not compliance buyouts. You would still have a cap hit, they just wouldn't be on the team anymore. |

JR has to be actively looking to trade scuderi. So Harrington, dumoulin, and some others who deserve a shot stay in the AHL? |

Top 9 talent... play anywhere... is he blind too... |

So...
Trade Paul Martin to NYI for Matt Martin, a prospect and a pick
The Martin's trade difference is 4M...
Sign Kulemin to 2.5M...
Leaves about 2M cap space (give or take depending on LTIR and demotions etc). - icedog97
Matt Martin ... LOL. There is that name again. What trash he is.
Seriously, plop in that tape of the series against the Islanders. People ripped Neal for his dumb penalties. Well, Martin is total tard and cost his team that series with dumb penalties.
He isn't what we need. |

I'd rather he say something like this than, we brought in with off now we are aggressively looking to trade one of our other veteran dmen. I think kulemin priced himself out of Pittsburgh, maybe his demands come down in a few days if he isn't picked up. |

So we won't be trading Paul Martin..
Martin-Letang
Ehrhoff-Määttä
Despres-Bortuzzo
Scuderi
It would be cool to unload Scuds.
Spaling is definitely playing 3rd line with Sutter.
I feel good about our D!!

As it stands, he is basically saying Spaling and Duper are your other 2 top 6 wingers with Bennett in the mix as well. |

GMJR just spoke
Talked a little about Kulemin...said someone would have to get very creative with the cap to fit him in right now
Greiss and Zatkoff to fight it out for #2...Zatkoff probably demoted via this pick-up (for salary purposes?)
Said they like Martin...would like to have him here past this year
Mentioned Spaling being a top 9 guy...maybe see time on lines 1 or 2
Mentioned Dupuis as top 6 |

It's July 1st... Camp doesn't open for another 10 weeks.... Opening night isn't for another 3 months... the trade deadline isn't for another 8 months.... Take a deep breath... |

I don't buy that at all, your comment about Martin. Might not be trading him today. Still need a top six forward; don't have the cap space to get one; signed Ehrhoff for a reason; Martin becomes a free agent next year and wants to test free agency. Who can blame him after seeing the ridiculous amount of money Orpik got and what Niskanen will get. Teams are searching for Dmen ... Minnesota, SJ, Detroit, Colorado. There is a match somewhere with the loser of the Niskanen sweepstakes. He is the last domino to fall before a potential trade.

Disappointing to say the least. Im sorry but Dupuis should be a third line guy. |
