Penguins are down to about $8.9 million in cap space. Sutter and Spaling need re-signed. Combined 5 or 6 million there. Serious cap problem.

Why limit your market, when teams that wanted him will want Martin also. I think the return will bring back a top 6 forward and maybe a mid round pick.
