Why would Ehrhoff take a 1yr deal? Have to think somebody would offer him 4x2 or 4x3 |

Good deal for Pens. Ehrhoff can run power play and be a good offensive d-man for the penguins. Has stretches of inconsistency but very good signing for you guys and a good cap number |

So that effectively ends Orpik and Niskanen's runs with the Penguins right? |

1 wants to play for a winning team and 2 prove himself once again to be a top d man, then next year he can get that 5-6 year deal worth 6+, he will shine with us i think... |

Very team friendly, if he shows enough they can lock him up long term during the season |

Have a good year and make bank again, especially if the cap goes up to $75 million next year, D contracts will just continue to skyrocket. |

I believe so. However, there is an exception that a player who signes a RFA tender/offer sheet or something can't be extended for 1 yr. Not really sure, but I do know there is some type of exception.

Cause he'll pad his stats this year, and rake in a ton next year. Teams don't like paying big dollars to players that are just bought out. 4 mil isn't small but he can probably get 4x5-6mil next offseason if he does well. |

Why replace only 1 year when Martin is to be moved since he is on his last year as well? - Reverend Killtaker
Because you want him to play for his next contract...and you have offensive d in the pipeline. |

We trade Martin for free assets and replace him with Erhoff. Same quality player, 1 mil saved cap, and whatever the return on Martin is. Amazing move. Wins all around. |
