I'd be especially leery of Hemsky...that guy can't stay healthy and if the Penguins are looking to go back to being a team with a better physical presence...not seeing how that would make him a good choice.
I'd be shocked if they didn't get another guy or 2 that has that 'other wing' on a top 2 line potential...and third line being the primary home.
People try and slot guys into roles but we know that unless they free up money to sign a true top 6 guy (with that pedigree) they are going to have Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvist and Kunitz in the top 6 with the other two best wings 'at the time' playing along side Crosby and Geno on lines 1 and 2. - icedog97
There is better value out there than Hemsky. He is fragile. Sign him and two of your supposed top six, him along with Bennett, are very fragile and you could be in trouble. We would have three of the most fragile players in the league if you include Letang.

I wasn't sure what he'd cost if we signed him, thanks for that. Kinda sucks there |

Love how this team is trying to build for the post season, so they trade Neal but leave fleury as their starter. Since the cup, he's been one of the major concerns but every year he's going to turn it around. If you really want to make a statement, axe him. The entire team will play better knowing they have a goalie who might make a save or two - jchst22
Sorry to tell you but if you watch this team on a regular basis you know that MAF is not one of our most glaring problems, 2 bad playoffs he sure as hell did; but other than that he is not to blame for our shortcomings. |

You'd have to offer something that Cbus wouldn't match. Probably around 6-7M, which require at least a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick. Now, would i give up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick for Johansen?? Probably. |

I do watch the pens. He's still in the same boat as Neal. Great regular season but not worth the risk in the playoffs. Have to get tougher. Physically and mentally. Can't have the most mentally fragile player in the league be your backstop |

If you watched this year's play-offs - any game except one, MAF wasn't out glaring problem for the Pens.
So ... what's Anaheim's excuse for not making it?

Plus, i personally think this goalie FA class is weak. Other than Miller, who is too expensive, Hiller is your best option, and he just got benched in favor of a rookie in the playoffs. |

Not only is Miller too expensive, but he is grossly overrated and is ticketed to Vancouver. |

I think Miller will go for 6+, and Hiller 4.5+. Not very good upgrades over MAF IMO. |

I'd much rather have Fleury for 5M than Hiller for 4.5M |

Do you think teams low ball Hiller and bring up the fact that he got replaced by rookies in order to get him to sign cheaper? It's a crappy move but if I'm going to trade away a starter to sign Hiller (Fleury), I'm going to do it for as cheap as possible. $3.5mil |

Agree. Easy to say MAF should be sent packing. He is a pending UFA after this season and has had some issues in the play-offs since winning the Cup. That said, he wasn't the problem this year. The goalie market is poor really. You have teams scrambling for goalies now ... Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Minnesota are all searching for one. Vancouver's search is probably over. Pittsburgh could unload Fleury for assets. The problem is, there isn't a suitable replacement out there for Pittsburgh. No, James Reimer isn't the answer either.

Vitale, much like Neal, was/is a frustrating player for me to watch. Has the tools to be effective in tough situations but always leaves you disappointed. Neither could stay on their skates to save their lives in a puck battle on the boards. |

Spezza to Stars "Jason Spezza has been dealt to the Dallas Stars pending a trade call. Involves substantial prospects and avails cash for other trades." Bruce Garrioch
I don't know why... but I just refuse to believe that will go through. How much would a team have to pay out the ass to prevent Spezza from hitting free agency at the last minute? |

Dallas is starting to have the look of a team that could do some damage. Not an LA/CHI style powerhouse, but I could see them becoming like the Blues. |

So, which two of Reilly Smith, Fraska (sp?), the big tall Dman who's last name starts with an "O" or Alex Chiasson are gone?

If they get one more scorer, that is a very dangerous team. They play a frustrating style of hockey for the opposition already.

Both, and a first round pick... not really.
I have no idea of a realistic guess to what I am assuming is a VAST overpaying for him considering what time it is. |

Chiasson plus prospects and picks... Smith is already on Boston, traded there last year in the Seguin deal |
