Benoit (frank)ing Pouliot is such a plug. Super lazy player who takes terrible penalties....Sweet jesus do I need to sacrifice a goat for something good to happen this offseason

Benoit just had a meeting with Ottawa mgmt. today. Looks like he's a go ahead to be the 1st FA signed by the team...

As long as we snag one of Niskanen or Ehrhoff, I am happy. The offense will come along.

Well it's got to be one of them fool, you're acquiring a 1C not a depth 4th liner...

Benoit Pouliot:

"Pouliot is a very talented player who has yet to put it all together at the pro level. An explosive skater with a good handle on the puck and a hard, accurate shot, he has the tools to be a top-line forward in the NHL. Questions about his attitude, commitment to playing defense and consistency have dogged him since turning pro however. If he can master the mental side of the game and learn a more disciplined approach to the game, he could be a top talent"

For me there's no doubt when Sidney Crosby, Bobby Ryan, and Jack Johnson are the only guys taken in front of you in your draft class that means you have a lot of natural skill (world class). It's unlikely he'll ever get to reach that -- but has a few things you can't buy - speed and size. It's also a big thing that he WANTS to play here. I think bringing him in is a great fit but hopefully not the "big move(s)" we're hoping for this week

i have faith that if he doesn't get the deal he wants (or close to it) then he'll keep spezza until the deadline.

nashville offered the same package they did for neal, plus the 11th pick (i think that's where they were picking)......so either spezza is worth quite a bit more than neal, or rutherford is just an idiot........either way......

- sensarmy_11

In no way is this true or does it even make sense...

You are telling me that Poile offered up Hornqvist, Spaling, and the 11th for a guy with one year left on his deal, is 31 years old, and with back issues?

But they offered the same package minus the 11th pick and got Neal, 27, and two years left on his deal?

I am not arguing that Spezza has more value than Neal, because I absolutely think Spezza is better all around. What I am arguing is that the Spezza deal fell apart but the Neal trade went through and GMs do not talk about who is involved in failed trades (or at least they should not) as it puts the players involved in a bad spot. Poile would not come out and say "Well we offered Roman Josi for Spezza but Spezza vetoed the trade. (You can see how Josi might perceive this).

Since the two players ended up getting traded anyways, is it not plausible that their names were just thrown out there as the players involved in the Spezza trade?

If Poile did offer that trade, then both of our GMs are idiots...
