Point is, Murray isn't intentionally throwing Spezza under the bus. He likes the guy. He's just trying to create a market and maximize his return under the circumstances.

I have been calling for a Methot trade this summer actually... He's a good player but won't be effective when we are a contending team... Get assets for him now while he still has value instead of watching him depreciate and turn into another Phillips...

Can't see any scenario of the Sens landing Nicushkin. I can see a conditional 1st if Spezza resigns.

I can't imagine Jim Nill would trade his prized rookie Nichuskin for Spezza. I could see Chaisson and perhaps Morin or draft picks going the other way.
Seguin > Spezza > Eakin would look good down the middle for Dallas.

i have faith that if he doesn't get the deal he wants (or close to it) then he'll keep spezza until the deadline.

nashville offered the same package they did for neal, plus the 11th pick (i think that's where they were picking)......so either spezza is worth quite a bit more than neal, or rutherford is just an idiot........either way......

I'm afraid we will all have to keep waiting. Why would teams pull a trade for Spezza when they can sign a free agent for nothing (in terms of giving up assets) after July 1. After the bulk of centres are signed, there may be a team or two left that is still looking to improve in that position. Definitely looking like we will be getting a lacklustre return though. Who could have guessed that?

there's no "bulk of centres".....once stastny signs, spezza will be moved. there is no other available center who is even close to those two that's available.

as for the nashville deal.......suggest to look up definition of NO TRADE CLAUSE and get back to me about why spezza is still a senator.

thats silly...kesler has had 1 season with 41 goals and nothing close since...spezza has had 34 goals 4 times in his carreer and over 30 goals a couple more times..also has 687 points in 686 career games...kesler has 393 points in 655 games...different players that bring different dynamics..but dont be dumb
