fixed. - stinger67
I'd believe that a team that traded a player during a game would be more likely to do that. |

Gorges who did not demand a trade was offered to the Leafs, one of the 15 teams he has on the list of teams he would not go to in a contract that the Canadiens agreed to and were not honouring. Once Gorges said no, Canadiens management made the story public hoping that it would force him to change his mind. - mr.peanut

He had all the right to say no. And he was a future hall of famer in the most fierce sports market, stories like that are bound to leak. |

Exactly.
Bergevin, or anybody on the Habs management would be stupid to call Bob McKenzie and tell him.
This is either his agent, or Shanahan, who called Gorges himself to try and change his mind. |

I like how you clear Montreal of any pontenial wrong doing, yet have no issue slandering the potential trade partner and Gorges' representation. |

Seriously, what did the Leafs had to lose by leaking the info to McKenzie? Nothing, on the contrary, they were putting the pressure on the player they wanted and on the Habs' management.
Bergevin said so himself today, that the story should have never gone public. Seemed pretty pissed about it. Whether you believe it or not is your personal choice.
I know you like pissing contests, but you are grasping at straws here. |

he might get 4 if they give him 8 years but otherwise, 3x3 is generous at this point. |

Actually it seems like Montreal wanted to make a trade to clear cap space, so it makes sense that they would leak the info in forcing Gorges' hand.
So after the trade Bergevin acts pissed and therefore clears Montreal of any wrong doing? Very convenient. If anything he should have made an effort to patch thing ups after Gorges cools down. |
