Weaver brought as much if not more than Gorges for less than half the price.

We have plenty of lefties on this team and a couple or shutdown Ds that can replace Gorges.

Reports are that Toronto approached the Habs with the trade. If it was a good one, I don't blame Bergevin for asking him if he'd accept the move.


Also the fact that Weaver came in and out-performed Gorges by a country mile doesn't say much for what kind of game he brings anymore. Maybe he's still got it in him and he'll excel somewhere else, but these last 2 seasons haven't been great from him. There are kids who can step in and offer more, maybe not right away, but I'd rather see them take the spot and grow then keep Gorges around 'just because'.

I think it's nothing personal with Gorges...Bergevin just doesn't like his contract. If he wants his team to stay competitive, and all the while able to afford Subban's big pay day coming up, he has to shed salary on the cap. There is interest for Gorges? If I'm Bergevin, I do the same thing. It's a business.

I just miss the old days where NTCs didn't existed and when players just STFU and went where they were told.
