Honestly, anything is going to be a let down at this point. His kicking and screaming about not wanting to go is just building up the drama and tension. |

What do you think we'd have to include with Gorges to get Eberle out of Edmonton?
Beaulieu and a 1st? |

Read a report on 98.5 Sports out of Montreal that said if Gorges won't lift his objection to Toronto and no trade can be made to one of his 15 approved teams, Habs will place him on waivers (and the NTC no longer applies). I'm suspicious of the report as it would be a very harsh move. I'm no big fan of Gorges and have advocated trading him for some time but such a move would be unfair (and counterproductive--he's popular in the room and such a tactic would spoil the atmosphere between players and management). |

agree. i can't see them doing it. and it's not like he HAS to be moved today or tomorrow. they have all summer to do it. waivers would be a last resort type of thing. |

I agree, but they're kind of up poop creek then. He doesn't fit into the plan going forward, and they can't build the team the way they want with his salary on the books. It's harsh, but keeping him around and not structuring the team properly just so his feelings don't get hurt is pretty stupid. |

they don't have to be cap compliant for a while. they can be 10% ($7 million) for a while i believe without penalty. and given all the RFAs they have, they'll be fine IF they want to make a move tomorrow. they have time to unload other salaries. |

I don't see that there's really anymore pressure playing in TO than Montreal, and as much as people like to poop on the city it's actually really nice. I feel like he's just hoping that if the Toronto deal doesn't work they'll just keep him. |
