July 1st is over, I'm afraid.
By the way, in my very humble opinion, you should go for it with the girl As far as I know, you're the one who will go out with her, not your friends. |

Hungover from last night, had a (frank)ing business class at 9AM on like 4 hours of sleep that I couldn't miss. Brutal day.
Also dealing with my favourite team trying to build an 8th place, first round loser. |

I feel pretty "meh" about it. Miller signing is what pissed me off. The other moves I could understand. I say go cheap in net unless you have top tier goalie. The difference between the non-elite, tier 2 type guys and the younger, less experienced talented goalies is usually not the big. Save that money to take advantage of a team in cap hell or sign another forward IMO.
Are you a QMJHL fan? If so, what are your thoughts on Ehlers? I wanted the Canucks to draft him. |

Miller's not in the top10 goalie in your mind?
I sure am a 'Q fan, I actually scout the league for futureconsiderations.ca
Ehlers was the best skater in the draft. What makes him a threat is that he can make plays at high speed and that he's a terrific goal scorer. He doesn't have the hardest shot but it should improve with physical maturity. On the defensive side he can hold his own. And unlike what most would think, he did not play much outside of PP with Drouin. He probably didn't have the toughest matchups against him though so that certainly helped.
Virtanen was not the sexiest of the picks the 'Nucks could make at that point, I certainly prefer Ehlers to him although Jake can score goals a plenty. He's just not as explosive of a player IMO.
Fiala, Ehlers, Fleury and Nylander would have been better picks. Sounds like Benning was seeing Virtanen in his soup though. |

Well damn. I was definitely all over the Ehlers train for the Nucks pick.
The Canucks QMJHL drafting has sucked though:
Alexandre Mallet(2012, 51st)
David Honzik(2011, 71st)
Alexandre Grenier(2011, 90th)

All three looked promising back then, but Grenier and Mallet were picked too early IMO.
Doesn't always turn out as expected. |
