But what forward? We don't have any under contract that I'd be willing to move for Gorges, a guy who doesn't want to be here and who's team can't wait to get rid of. - gravyface

Of that list, only gauthier and Franson would be ok in my book - Feeling Glucky?
I wouldnt be okay with Gauthier. I see the way u guys clown the kid and Im not sure why. He's a 19 yr old, 6'5 center with boat loads of confidence who is getting better. Why not wait a few years before we do something stupid and give him up for nothing. |

You also don't trade Vezina-winning goalies for Andrew (frank)ing Raycroft. - Not_Stee
Which vezina winning goalie at the time did the leafs trade for raycroft?
Hey I am not defending the Leafs history (that was a different management) but this whole spazzing out over every single move is ludicrous. You see the people going nuts because we bought out tim Gleason? Tim (frank)ing gleason. Tim gleason man. Uproar because tim Gleason will not be on our team next year. The trade for Gunnarsson. Uproar. Gunnarsson .
The guy has done (frank) all in years. Cannot do one aspect of the game well.major uproar.
We will have months, if not years of stats of how many goals kuli scores with malkin. How that affects the Leafs, I do not know. Of course he will score more with malkin than holland and Clarkson, but no, we will (frank)ing hear about it for a long long time |

Well Mackenzie furry muff, Dreger, not so much.if they wanna pay subban 8 milly willy then I wouldnsuggest as little salary going back as poss. Could be Gauthier. Could be Leivo. Could be verhague. Could be them and picks. Could be just picks. Franson, finn, percy. At the end of the day, its josh georges. As bad as we view Leaf management, tim, david and brendan have been around the game long enough to know you don't trade one of your centres when you only have two. - walshyleafsfan
Ya I can't see it being a piece with actually value to this roster now. I could see it being Franson and a prospect. I wouldn't pay them anymore. |

A feasible deal is
Clarkson + 3rd-7th rd pick + retained salary (1 mil - 2.5 mil of 5.25 cap hit) for Gorges.
Depending on how much cap is retained, the pick changes.
So... Clarkson, 3rd, Leafs retain 1 mil (Habs take a 4.25 cap hit) for Gorges (3.9 cap hit goes to Leafs, Leafs have cap hit 4.9 mil from transaction)
(At this point, the Leafs are buying some of the Habs capspace for a 3rd rounder)
Or
Clarkson, 4th, Leafs retain 1.5 mil (Habs take a 3.75 cap hit) (down 150K from previous 3.9 mil), (3.9 cap hit goes to Leafs, Leafs have 5.4 mil cap hit from txn)
Or
Clarkson, 5th, Leafs retain 2.0 mil (Habs take a 3.25 cap hit) (down 650K from previous 3.9 mil cap), (3.9 cap hit goes to Leafs + 2 mil, Leafs have 5.9 mil cap hit from transaction),
At this point, Clarkson is making a salary equal to what he's roughly worth when he's playing to the best of his ability. Montreal may potentially be willing to do that deal, save 650K in cap & gain a draft pick.
I would not trade Lupul for Gorges. |

Dude,
The buyouts last year
The Clarkson signing
Swapping d-men, but taking salary and giving up yet another draft choice
The Phaneuf contract, which they are trying to unload before it even kicks in
The Lupul contract
The Liles contract swapped for the Gleason contract
Buying out the Gleason contract so an up against the cap team can pay for nothing for the next 4 years (not that keeping him was any better, but it is still bad management all the way back to the Liles contract)
Mishandling Reimer to the point where there will be no return at all.
so yeah, there is reason to panic. This organization has proven they have no clue. |
