In a roundabout way this could be a positive. If Nonis bought out Gleason to clear up a little more room for Bolland, yet Bolland still walks, then we will have a lot of space that perhaps management didn't expect.
1.33 won't be a hinderance if the cap keeps going up, might suck if it freezes at 69 for a while. - BetterCallSaul
When dealing with Bolland they would ask is 'x' amount is enough. If he says yes. Nonis would then say ok. we have to clear some space. and THEN let Gleason go.
You just don't let a player go for the blind chance that you sign one of your guys. |

Gardiner & Holland have received qualifying offers per reports, it is likely Ashton, Franson, Reimer, D'Amigo, Ryan & Abbott will as well. - Fruitcakenipple
Just let him go. Bring in Brennan instead. |

Why do you always assume that people with no experience in the nhl will easily transition into it with no hiccups?
Franson (proven he can play in the NHL) has value. You don't let him go for nothing. |

I can't believe that not 1 reporter knows what the leafs are offering for gorges - MTL1
The leak came out of Torono so they know who are the players involved. They were asked not to mention the TO player. They want to put pressure on Gorges. |

I really hope Nonis lets the likes of Franson and Raymond walk.
With all the buyouts or RFA's becoming UFA's there's a chance to get a player for little to no risk who does what Raymond did this season. |

Franson has proven the type of player he is in the nhl. That's why I don't see a problem letting someone with no experience take his spot. |

Just like the media saying Montreal might threaten waivers if he doesn't take the trade.
I don't see the leafs offering up such a good package that Montreal would take that course. |

Should have traded him at the deadline considering we got him for Lebda. A 3rd round pick would have been a "haul" for Lebda! |

hes played 40 games in the NHL to date is that enough to be deemed an NHL ready player no but at the same time put up an impressive point per game in the ahl last season.. its not like were contenders we are able to allow our prospects to play.. plus a lot cheaper than franson and willing to bet will get the same result.. |

But really, if he goes to arbitration, aren't we pretty much forced to pay him more than he's worth?
Just let him go, save the cap nightmare. Guys got a bad attitude when it comes to the negotiations, and he's simply not worth the money. |

As reported by Dreger, it's significantly better than all other offers. That does not mean it is a significant offer. |

Just waive him and bring up someone else
I wouldn't mind if the Leafs went after Ehrhoff. Buffalo buying him out is a blatant tank move
If I was GM, woulda at least offered them a 7th for him. |
