I stopped paying much attention to the NHL for a while, shortly after the Shanahan hire and the promise of culture change.

Apparently culture change =

- firing the assistant coaches
- drafting a highly skilled 1st rounder with a questionable work ethic/sense of entitlement
- trading a mediocre defenseman for a mediocre defenseman
- buying out the only tough, shot-blocking, fight for his teammates defenseman on the team to the tune of a 1.3m-1.8m cap penalty for the next four years
