If a player earns it, then he plays. It should be that for all players.
- LeafMan

There is 0.00% chance of him playing with the big club next year.

60 points in 71 games. that's pretty good. if he can produce at that rate, for $6 million, that's a solid deal.
- DoubleDown

if you count the playoffs 70 in 78 games

he would be a huge upgrade offensively and defensivly to Bozak

he's 169 lbs.... unless they have a need for a stick guy. this kid wont sniff the nhl this year. he'd be killed
- Rockhead_37

174

and... if he puts on 6 pounds this off season (which he should be able to do)

he's bigger than half the canadiens! he'll be fine in the east.

If a player earns it, then he plays. It should be that for all players. Nylander has lots of options where to play this season
- LeafMan

Disagreed.

A lot of guys can look amazing at the start and in training camp. Even play the first 15 - 20 games great. It's the wear and tear of the long season where it gets them.

Much better to be like Tampa and Drouin and let him develop more. He can try new things and work on his weaknesses because he's able to make up for the mistakes against the "lesser" competition.

It will take 2-3 years before he's ready to make the jump to the NHL. By then, he'll be bigger and stronger. He'll never be a powerforward, but he'll be bigger.

Unfortunately he's a bad fit for us now, a trade for Franson would add size to our blue line and he shoots R. Gorges is a perfect fit for you guys, will wish him and you the best except against us
- J-P

I would literally take anyone or anything for Franson. But that's just me

He played over 80 games last year plus he has options, AHL, Junior, Europe, ECHL if he needs to be moved.

Let's not forget Nylander played in SEL against men. Sure they may not throw the body around as much and the ice is bigger, but it's a hell of a lot closer to N reality than the O.

Reading all the interviews, the Leaf brass really seem to think Nylander might be ready to go this season if he shows well in camp, I think this time they won't pull what they did with Kadri, just a gut feeling.
- LeafMan

They don't actually think he will make the big club.

Nonis said Nylander will get every chance to make the team in training camp, but didn’t get anyone’s hopes up.

“It’s difficult to make the team as an 18-year-old. It would be a long shot for him to do that, but if he’s good enough to stick we keep him. He’s got NHL speed, NHL hands and an NHL shot right now. It’s whether the rest of his game can catch up.”

I still say give him the AHL or another league. We don't necessarily need him right now.

Let him simmer a little longer. Never hurt development before.

Yeah I watched a couple YouTube clips of him... He's a sneaky skilled smooth skater.. Didn't even look super small, just a little undersized.

There's only one guy drafted this year who is NHL ready and it's Ekblad.
