Exactly. The are (for the most part) unlike soccer, basketball and football players (PK and Lupul aside )

Plus, how wouldn't love to turn up to work everyday in flip flops then go for a round of golf which your in-laws are 6 feet under snow.

The thing is, life after hockey for some of these guys depends on having contacts and ties to corporate sponsorship. Guys like George Parros can earn beacoup dollars on side businesses and sponsorships playing in a market like TO or MTL; not so much in Anaheim, Dallas, Tampa.

Now that's a player you give Gardiner for, not Gorges.

The Leafs will reportedly make their final pitch to pending UFA Bolland prior to free agency period opening. http://thesco.re/1pPXmZ5

I smell a 4.75/7 year deal on the horizon.

(frank) yeah, him or O'Reilly. Won't get my hopes up though.
- BetterCallSaul

Nor me, but that's the kinda guys that I'd consider including Naz in a deal for.

Then there's no trade. Done.
- peddy-93

I'm not saying that trading Gardiner for Gorges is a good deal.. I'm saying if Nonis is about to sign Bolland for 5x5 then hes a moron and anything is possible.

Montreal is shopping Gorges and u think that Franson or Lupul with a pick will be the highest offer?

So I was thinking perhaps the Nylander pick starts a sort of count down for Kadri. I'm a fan of Kadri, so this isn't angry Leaf fan trying to get rid of him. But if Nylander can handle 2C duties in 2015/16, the year Kadri hits RFA, who knows. Something to keep an eye on, I suppose.

LOL good old leaf fan overvaluing players that have proved nothing (Gardiner) for a 21 year old 33 goal scorer

Offer sheets for RFAs are a complete waste of time.

The only hope is that they would want to deal him, but what would the Leafs send the other way?

Franson and D'Amigo and Ashton won't get this done.

There are businesses in California

Plus, doesn't Parros have a law degree from Harvard or something like that?

If it's Lupul they'll need to send the pick.

Sounding like #Flames will use compliance buyout on Shane O'Brien. He owed 2.2M for 2014-15 #NHL season.

Then what? we become the Oilers who keep forcing their young kids to take on too big of roles? Even if Nylander one day projects to be a number one centre, you bring him in at number 3 and give him sheltered minutes. Let him work his way up the lineup. Knee jerk reactions to trade players without knowing what you have to replace them is poor management. It's what the leafs have been guilty of since the first lockout.

this is Johansen the 6'3 220 lb. 21 year old centre who just scored 33 goals? he is a franchise centre. franchise centres don't get moved. and if they ever did, they would only get moved for franchise players in return.

God I love Leafs Nation.

He weighs 106 lbs. He's never played on a North American rink.

And you think he'll play #2 centre next year?

He played in North America in both the US and Alberta for years before going to Sweden.

Just to nitpick.
