they get the hysteria and god-like status on crappy team regardless. the thing is, hockey players, in general, do not want that kind of treatment. they don't want to be recognized, they don't want to be idolized. they want to be paid and left alone. - DoubleDown
except guys like Kadri/Lupul/Subban...they love the limelight. |

If the team is doing well, there's no better place to be than Montreal or Toronto.
If the team isn't doing well, yeah, I'll take Tampa Bay, thank you very much.
Sadly, Montreal and Toronto haven't been doing very well the past 10 years or so. |

The general consensus is that Toronto fans respect the privacy of the players in restaurants/schoolyards/etc.
I'm not quite sure the same can be said for Montreal, but I'll let the Habs fans chime in on that one. |

For Montreal to trade Georges to the Leafs its got to be an overpayment... Who else would it be? |

not if they are trying to bring in Boyle or somebody...they need to clear his salary. |

Working downtown I pass by a lot of the guys. No one bothers them, at least from what I have seen. |

Exactly. The are (for the most part) unlike soccer, basketball and football players (PK and Lupul aside )
Plus, how wouldn't love to turn up to work everyday in flip flops then go for a round of golf which your in-laws are 6 feet under snow. |

Wonder if the Leafs are kicking tires on Matt Moulsons camp. Obviously would be pricey but a Lupul-Kadri-Moulson line would be nice no? - lotempio8119
Would be great and help with the secondary scoring they sorely lack. Cause, ya know, it ain't coming from Clarkson. Is he a 5 x 5 type player or more? Don't think I want him for more than 5 years though. |

That's my thinking too. If that's the case they get the 6th that Gagner got. So Georges ain't coming here. |

but better, I think you missed that part.
1 more part...I don't think we would miss Gunner even if he had just retired and we got nothing. - Garnie
I dunno. He may have been miscast, but he played 20+ a night and led our defense in +/- by a fair margin. And he cost 3.15m. He wasn't the problem. |

Rielly and a pick. The whole roster player, prospect, pick for Joshua Georges.
Gardiner, Reilly and a conditional 1st (if Leafs make the playoffs) 2nd if they don't.
We retain 2 mil of Gardiner's salary. Get 'er done.

Overpayment is sometimes required to trade within the same division, but not on this scale... I don't know exactly what Gardiner is worth but I know he's worth more than Georges. |
