Honestly I think he's going to play wherever he wants to go I don't think money is going to his major motivator. If he wants to come here he might sign for less just to help a team out.
- Yeti1181

why would we want to sign another teams chronic underperformers like an Erhoff, Vinny , Richards etc etc..

i don't see how Franson is a fit going the other way but i could be wrong. Montreal is looking hard for a top-6 winger. i could see Gorges for Lupul. Montreal gets the better player but Toronto fills a need by dealing from a strength and saves a bit of money.
- DoubleDown

More needs to come our way. And that dosnt really make sense because the habs are trying to save money.

We have Gardiner, Rielly and supposedly Phaneuf for that.
- Fakepartofme

Unless he has Polak-Gleason/Gorges on at the same time. Which we all know he will.

if Gorges waives his NTC this will be a big update to the leafs back end and he would be a perfect mentor to morgan reilly and or gardiner. nice veteran presence in the lockeroom and look to him to be given an A as an alternate capt. This guy would be a great addition to a very instable D core from last season and would provide insulation for Phaneuf having to play all the top minutes, you could now use Gorges and Gardiner to lesson the minutes of Dion. love this guy hope the deal gets done wont put up the points Franson does put won't be a liability like Cody has been since moving to the leafs from the Preds

They will move lupul for gorges I would imagine. Then try and sign a player like Michalek to replace some of lupuls production.

Hey when trading with Nonis, anything is possible

Hell, he'll even retain half of Lupuls salary for you, just because he's such a swell guy

Erhoff isn't being bought for underperforming they just want to get away from the huge contract and long term effects of it

This makes more sense...

However I don't think a Toronto/Montreal trade makes any sense... I can just imagine opening night Lupul scoring a hatrick on his former buds... FAIL

Someone said George's must have been pre polak, but they're still trying so no. Leafs trying to get more slow denfenders who can't get the puck out... Exacerbating an already huge problem.

I just think this is garbage... Montreal and Toronto are not trading roster players... not happening... especially a guy like Lupul who when he is on can be lights out. Would come back to haunt us big time.

They want 'grittier, better' defencemen yet when you have defencemen that can hold on to the puck and do something with it, you actually have to defend less.
