I honestly have no idea who or what Polak is.

it's the same way we hear rumours in Montreal about the Habs trading Subban.
obviously. why wouldn't they trade him? no doubt they'd win any trade involving him. also, (frank) Jason Spezza. - DoubleDown
Subban?
I hate that guy. Totally disrespectful to the game of hockey. Egotistical dirtbag. Complete garbage. Over-rated.
Except when he plays for Canada.
Or if he was ever traded to the Leafs... |

For those who question the Gunnar trade, I ask a simple question:
How would you classify Gunnarson? What kind of defenceman is he?
Stay at home? No, not really.
Physical? Nope.
Paul Coffey-esque? No, not very good with the puck.
Power play specialist? No, can't really put up points.
Transitional passer? No, he doesn't really do that.
Good positional d-man? No, that's not him.
It's hard to say you are going to miss a guy when you can't even put your finger on what you are going to miss about him. - Atomic Wedgie
Some get this guy and his post a Wisers clap.
Spot (frank)ing on. |

I love reading Spatso's play on all of this. The guy really should come back to being a Leafs fan. We need him to cheer us up. Ottawa can literally do nothing wrong in his eyes. Every single decision made, whether trade, draft pick, waiver pick up, is a golden move according to Spatso. He's not any better than polak. They are different players. The leafs get what they want and the blues get what they want. Don't be fooled by his inflated stats from him getting way too much ice time in all situations. - JVR_42_PK81
gunnarsons stats are terrible.. this past season was his worst..but over the past few..better than Polak

If that direction is "patience" then yes, as a Flyers fan, I'd be worried. |

To me it comes to ditching a guy who was never really good for us in Gunnar and at least hoping for some change instead bringing back the same guys that have led us no where. Im not saying i like Polak, nor do I really care how tough he is or isn't, but we got rid of something that had little value to us, wasn't working and are trying something different. So taking all that into account, I sit here today liking the move. Might change my tune once the season starts, but I see no reason or point in complaining about the trade until then, especially the loss of Carl (frank)ing Gunnarsson. |

How many times did we see a defenseman stand up at the blueline and make a hit or take them out of the play, how many times did we see a D man knock someone off the puck instead of chasing them around the rink with one hand on the stick poking at the puck, If he improves that, then I'm happy, we have to wait and see if it pans out. |

I don't mind trading Gunnar for Polak, but is Polak an upgrade over Gunnar that warrants a 4th and retaining salary? Don't think so. |

yeah but Spezza really bent them over the table and gave them a good (frank)ing. it was going to be hard enough to get a return on him anyway. but now knowing that this guy will simply reject most deals unless it's to one of his 2-3 preferred destinations? they're (frank)ed. if you're Dallas... what are you gonna offer? you're going to offer a pile of poop. |

thats fair
to me its just the compounding of these moves by nonis...that show to me at least...he really is lost now... he is just rotating the same crap in and out..its not really about Gunnarson.. just more questionable moves

Meh, it's 200k. Peanuts and rather insignificant. I don't think 200k from a 69 million dollar salary cap is something to get hung up on. As for the 4th, sure it would have been nice keeping it...but it's a 4th freaking round pick. Those get tossed around like candy in todays NHL. I wasn't excited about having to pay it to make the swap, but we're more desperate for this move than they are, so whatever. Not a big deal. |
