The end. - Garnie
says biased leaf fans... Since a decent team traded for gunnar..who seem to know what they are doing... unlike our GM ..I am not so sure |

Pitts, Phi, Det, Bos have better teams than TB.
NYR probably as well.
3 remaining playoffs spots between Mtl, TB, Wsh, Ott, Tor. - MaximusAurelius
Tampa was missing Stamkos for a large part of the season and did very well, with him back, plus Drouin and anyone else Yzerman brings in, they're among the top teams in the east. |

Well that sure makes evaluating all Leaf trades easier - our GM dumber than their ->, we lose |

So as long as a decent team makes a trade, it obviously means they got the best of it. Like the Miller, Ott deal for example? |

I am at a loss to explain the thinking behind ANY of the decisions made by this organization. The last 4-5 days or so is just another chapter in the sad, perplexing, and monumentally frustrating tale of woe otherwise known as the recent history of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Gunnarsson for Polak trade is just another example of what we have come to expect from the decision makers at the top of the organization. It is a safe, low risk, low reward lateral move which is as underwhelming as the organization who made it. The really frustrating part of this swap for me is the inclusion of a 4th round pick. It seems like a totally unnecessary gratuity tilting the deal in St. Louis' favour--but I suppose this is of little consequence to a team that routinely wastes its draft picks anyway. - IrishMedicinMan
No, the last 4-5 days are a new chapter in the organization.
We aren't trading away youth for aging vets.
We aren't sacrificing the future for a 7th place present.
But in case you start getting heart palpitations over tomorrow, just remember this:
Last year, the Leafs made an unsafe, high-risk, high-reward transaction.
Remember David Clarkson? |

Who says I'm biased..just what I believe from what I've seen. Gunner is about as tough as my mom...watched him every game ( save a couple ) for 5 years.
We have lots of softness on the backend...GREAT TRADE I believe. I also like the Clarkson signing - so I could be way off too |

this is going to be a well rounded defense . Polak and Gorges are solid additions.

For those who question the Gunnar trade, I ask a simple question:
How would you classify Gunnarson? What kind of defenceman is he?
Stay at home? No, not really.
Physical? Nope.
Paul Coffey-esque? No, not very good with the puck.
Power play specialist? No, can't really put up points.
Transitional passer? No, he doesn't really do that.
Good positional d-man? No, that's not him.
It's hard to say you are going to miss a guy when you can't even put your finger on what you are going to miss about him. |

Especially since there is no "official" way of asking for a trade.
