Hal Gill.

Beauchemin and Kubina were good, IMO.

Just had the misfortune of being coached by Wilson.

Hall Gill is exactly what the Leafs need for the PK. Loved that guy just for that purpose.

But at the same time, Button ranked him higher.

We're doomed.

Oh exactly! Completely agree, like I've said before, I like phaneuf, but not in his current role.
My fear is his contract could hinder giving Rielly and gardiner the big money they deserve in several years (if they turn out how people are hoping they do)
Again, not hating on phaneuf, just hating on the leafs always playing their players in positions above where should be.

Cap keeps going up. I don't think Phaneuf's contract is going to be a problem when resigning these guys. And if it is, by the time they're looking for their big contracts, he won't have as many years left, and his hit will be somewhere around 7% of the cap- comfortable 2nd pairing money. So he won't be hard to move.

Phaneuf needs a support piece....Everything with the exception of the last 15 games last season say's he's a #1 Defenceman.
His $7 million dollar salary is going to look pretty upper average in a couple yrs.

You're absolutely right!...

... Because his jock can usually be found in 4 or 5 different places around the ice every game.

He's better, but not by much.

If he was, you wouldn't be saying he's much better but not worth much more money. Toews, Stamkos, Getzlaf...these guys are much better and are worth much more money. Stastny...meh...

So, is there ANYONE worth signing?

Honestly, I don't want any of the big names. Wait until September and sign a couple bottom 6 veterans for cheap.

Raymond was a better FA signing than just about anyone else last year.

So your contribution to the discussion is that the Leafs need to bring in much better players - at lower salaries - so they can win multiple Stanley Cups?

That's great advice.
