Zuccarello is looking for a 3-4 year contract, and is willing to take less money to stay with #NYR, per Norwegian media - jimbro83
That has been his consistent message. There is no rationale reason a deal should not in place already. He wants to stay here, doesn't want to break the bank, the team desperately needs him and a longer term deal buys out UFA years, how damn complicated is it? |

No need to stress jan. We all know how sather only begins dealing with his rfas after the free agent frenzy is over. |

I understand the frustration, but negotiations are never simple, and free agency includes a lot of moving parts that complicates matters from the team's perspective.
Just chill out a bit and see how it plays out. |

Not for nothing Jan but would you have actually resigned Boyle, Moore, or Pouliot in January let alone give them raises? Lets face it, they atarted to play better in the second half of the season and you are going to resigned anyone while making a run at the playoffs. I hate Sather and his comments are stupid but I dont blame him for not signing the UFA's - Brukie
Think most know my answer would be YES. I have long been a proponent of Boyle as he does the dirty work and was huge on the PK. Moore is similar and a key faceoff piece. Pouliot balanced out the line. If you could have gotten the three for $5.5-$6.5 mil, you would have said no? Would be decent raises for all three, who made about $3.7 mil this year, so to me it's a no-brainer. |

I know boyle tried talking extension mid-season, but as for pouliot and moore theres no guarantee they wouldve been willing to sign anything. It's all assumptions at this point. |

Figures after a SCF run, "Fire Sather sooner than later", is the morning line. Maybe we should tamper to hire Holmgren away from Philly. He likes to extend his players, early and often. Take a look at that roster flexibility and Cap constraints. Just as there are no perfect teams in Bettman's NHL, there is also no way to be a perfect GM. I wanted the majority of this team back as much as anybody. They still can be, at the right price. - TJ
Gave my honest view here, which is what I usually try to do. This is been something I have harped on the past few years and reached a head for me lately. Understand that many disagree with me, that's fine, I just feel that many of the rosters spots could have been filled reasoanbly with retaining personnel. Hopefully, they can still can, I am not that optimistic. |

Theres no way to find out if you're right or wrong. The seasons over and we just wont know. Doesnt matter anyway. There are some interesting pieces available im free agency. Id argue there are a number of players that are better and more consistent than pouliot available. Lets see if sather can swing one of em and then compare it to what pouliot will sign if he leaves. |

I would have thought there would be more excitement approaching July 1st as we come closer to finding out our roster for the upcoming season. This could be the team that finally delivers!
But instead, just a lot of coulda shoulda woulda talk. A lot of complaints and frustration.
Come on guys, have some patience. Wait to complain about roster moves when they are actually made. For now, sit back and enjoy the free agency show. |

Noooooo...I said trade Moore after trading for Obrien separately, like for a pick or something. I'm dumb but I'm not that dumb lol. Glencross was included in the deal I proposed for Moore.
Glencross was a guy this board creamed over a couple of times last couple of years, me included |

I think the lack of excitement is born by the what is perceived as a lack of cap space to do much of anything significant. Right now, it looks like the Rangers are going to lose more from the roster than they are going to gain, because they are hamstrung by a $69 million cap, so people are going into July 1st with dread, rather than optimism.
I do agree, however, that we should wait and see how this plays out, but I do think it is pretty clear that the Rangers are going to have to rely on some young guys coming up through the organization to really contribute to the big club next year. |

As usual I think you are hitting the nail on the head. I absolutely would have made an effort to get Boyle, Pouliot, and Moore for that $5.5-$6.5M price in January. Even thought I know it is an overpayment I would still probably bite the bullet on Moore and Boyle right now at $5M. The fear is that Boyle now wants a bigger role.
I don't think Stralman an be aforded unless Staal is moved. Pouliot is the expendable player in my book. I think we just saw his equivalent of a Brian Boyle 20g season. I could be wrong, but my guess is that he scores 9-12g next season and less than 30pts. |

I agree.. I think if BP is smart, he just takes a 1 year "show us you can do it again" deal.. he took TOO many stupid offensive zone penalties to warrant anything more

Columbus wants to do a bridge deal. He doesn't want to do a bridge deal. Seems like things are hot between the parties, and he may now be a prime candidate for an offer sheet. |

Briere traded to Colorado. I guess that means Statsney is a goner.
Edit: Unless someone moves to wing. |

Someone explain this move to me from Colorado's perspective, other than getting rid of an extra year of Parenteau's salary? |

They've been trying to get rid of paranteau for a while now. Probably just took the best deal available at this point. |

Someone explain this move to me from Colorado's perspective as shouldn't Montreal have been throwing in that 5th round pick? |
