I don't get why people bring that up with Russian players. Put yourself in his shoes and be honest with yourself. Would you do that if your him? (frank) no. - mrhattrick27
Depends on how serious he is about playing in the nhl. |

Sather will end up announcing his retirement right after 1-2 of these players sign somewhere else for eye shockingly reasonable contracts.
Zucc and Kreider could really bend Sather over the barrel here knowing his entire roster is empty and D day has arrived. They can each ask for $5M, sit back, and watch. Every game the Rangers lose with 2 lines made up of ELC's and scrub players will echo. I don't think either of these players will do it, but they certainly could.
Maybe there was more going on than we know with the Lundqvist, Girardi, and Callahan deals.
If Sather lets half of the roster walk after making the SCF what are the odds that MSL decides to move on? Does he cross over to the NYI? He could play with Taveras and have a grand time. |

Just as a hypothetical:
If Sather had forgone the playoff run (leaving us to crucify him) and had traded Stralman, Pouliot, D Moore, B Boyle, and Diaz at the deadline...what could he have gotten in return?
After the SCF run had he immediately traded the rights to Boyle, Moore, Stralman, and Pouliot before the lower cap was announced...what could he have gotten?
Anything is better than the nothing that is becoming a real possibility right now. A team like Edmonton with a ton of space that would kill for solid 2 way players who bring a veteran presence and know how to win. Those 4 guys would reshape the atmosphere in their locker room. |

I feel your pain Ranger fans. The old guard has got to go. It seems like the old power houses of the East just don't get it. Thus, the West is passing them by. The lifespan of a player seems to be just a few years, before he leaves the team or the game. Welcome to the cap, and free agency. At least the fan can change the names, and numbers on your jersey when the player moves on. Gone are the days of dynasties, and players on a team for life. I am still puzzled at how the GM's can give guys 5 or more years on a contract. But, greed, and stupidity are the rule of thumb. So much for the love of the game.
Peace. |

Good, I need to get some sleep tonight. If it was at midnight, I would have been refreshing every 10 mins lol |

Well this is basically the worst case scenario possible. Free agency hasnt started yet. How about we chill out and let it play out for once? If we always had it our way with our wants for kneejerk reactions, hank and girardi and boyle would've been traded well before.the deadline and av wouldve been fired before thanksgiving. |

I get that people hate sather and dislike his negotiating ways, but in recent history 9 out of the 10 times we complain, he leaves us applauding his work. The mcdonagh and stepan deals are examples of this.
Do I blame sather for not cracking and resigning pouliot and boyle for a combined 7M yet? Nope, im actually kinda happy. Especially when it seems more and more buyouts of solid players are happening seemingly every day. |

Just my opinion but I have a feeling if they don't re-sign Pouliot, that one will bite us in the ass. |

Zuccarello is looking for a 3-4 year contract, and is willing to take less money to stay with #NYR, per Norwegian media |

I liked him but I think he was the least important piece to that line. A guy like vrbata or jussi jokinen would be an even better fit on that line. Or even miller/kreider from inhouse (or duclair ) |

Laughable. I can be in my home country, playing against better competition in the 2nd best league in the world, and for more money, until the Ranger feel my skills at training camp are best suited for the NHL roster.
Or go abroad, play in a worse league that no one cares about, making peanuts.
The decision is clear. And The Rangers understand that. Just show up to training camps and possibly these prospect camps if it doesn't conflict with KHL and that shows you are serious. |

I hope so. Jokinen is one guy I would like to replace him if he was available for the right price. As far as the younger guys, that would be the best case scenario for one of them to take Pouliot's place and be able to save some coin. |

He's under contract for this upcoming season regardless. Should be interesting to see his decision next summer. From what I've read, his stats didn't do.him justice last season and he played pretty well. If he has a breakout season, I can see him having the confidence to come over to north america.
A lot usually depends on their families too. A kid like kutznetsov for example stayed in the k so long to make money for his family which was relatively poor I believe. |

People think KHL is wide open hockey. It's much lower scoring than the NHL so rather than stats being inflated they are actually lower across the board. |

No brainer to get this deal done 1st, as for Boyle requesting $5 mil per over 2 years I'm sure we're all in a agreement to pass, if $5 million is being bandied about it should be enough to get Stralman back in the fold |

The funniest thing was going from playoff hockey to the world cup. Game at 6PM actually starts at 6. I got in at 6:20 and thought for sure they wouldn't start til then... Mind was blown to see 20 minutes on the clock already. |

Zucarello keeps saying that he is not that concerned about money. My feeling here is that the Rangers can get his deal done for a lot less than what we expect. But, it would suprise me if Slats is locked in at something like 2 years/5 million. I bet Slats could get it done for 4 years/12 million, which is alot less than what we expect he will sign for. |

my only concern with Zuccarello is being lowballed to a point where some KHL swoops in and offers him crazy money, or an offer sheet |
