I think so too. When was the last time the Rangers had a renowned CHL prospect. Grachev? Duclair doing this at the CHL level is great.
- tomburton99

Duclair not doing it as an over aged player is even better

And all I am basically saying is that is fine. But Clayton Stoner sucks.

I wouldn't mind Loktionov. Just saying still young. Might lure Buchnevich over quick. Some people are high on that kid too.
- tomburton99

I was reading good things about him from the prospect camp today. Hopefully they can convince him to come over at some point.

Looked good with the Russian U20 team. But that's all saw of him, outside of a few highlights.

Of course not. LA has sloths out there, but you know what...thier mean sons of bytches. Again, GOD FORBID we had someone like that and not everyone can skate. Oh the horror.

"NEWSFLASH": we get pushed around a bit and a tad soft..maybe you noticed??

- Slimtj100

Yea and their "sloths" isn't what killed us. It was Doughty, Gaborik,Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, Williams.... etc etc. Speed and skill. Speed and skill. That is what wins hockey games man. It's why the Rangers were good! I kept hearing before the season, Zucc is small. We get pushed around, we need size instead. Size, Size, Size. Guess what, this was the smallest NYR team in recent memory and we went to the cup. Had 2-0 leads we blew because of their skill. I only recall 1 King game (the game we had no chance in I believe) where I really thought we were getting pushed around.

Play to your strength. We FINALLY have a team that can skate with Chicago. Skate with the Pens. That's how you beat these guys. Speed and skill. I'm not alone in this. There is a reason these poop head, slow, defensive dman are getting bought out or not being re-signed. You need all 6 dman to be able to handle the puck breakout, and keep possession of the puck. That is how you win.

Lol

Evey time I bring a player it spreads like wildfire. Im not gonna players names anymore. I'm just gonna use descriptions of players as to not cause an uproar.

It was a player LIKE Bickell. It was a player LIKE penner. It's a player LIKE stoner. These dudes are mean big and nasty. And this team has still NOT addressed it. And we still get pushed around. I said it last week Pete, and you agreed, not everyone on this team in every position needs to skate like Paul Coffey pavel Bure or whoever. Slow guys big guys are ok to have on rosters. All teams have them. They can soften up teams, crowd the net, clear our net, etc.

Why is Zucc the only guy who see's the big picture and is more interested in winning, it's like the never came together and got swept in the 1st round, show dome interest in coming back for Christ sake
- KreiderBomb

Well let's also be honest...Zucc is telling that to the Norwegian paper. Outside the qualifying offers which are just formalities, negotiations with the RFAs won't start until later in July, so we really don't know if Zucc will also walk the walk in terms of his hometown discount talk. He did last season, but he didn't really have an option. Not sure he has much of an option this year either outside an offer sheet or arbitration.

Bickell can move though. He's not fast, but he's not a pylon either. So those guys with the rare combo of size and good enough speed are hard to find.

See, I disagree with LA being Sloth-like. They may not be able to match the speed overall of a team like the Rangers but they sure didn't look slow against us in the Final. One thing I don't want to do is spend too many of our resources chasing one team; in this case LA. Yes, they are big, physical, thick, etc. But we had our success in that lineup with our speed. I'd prefer to play to our strength at this point as opposed to trying to copy another team. I'd like to stay quick and add players who keep us that way or improve that aspect. If we can get bigger at the same time then perfect!!! But if that option isn't there, lets stick with what got us there and that is speed and skill.

Don't know anything about Stoner other than he's physical. Don't recall him being slow but don't recall him being mobile either. That's where the pro scouts for the Rangers come into play. They make those recommendations.

Size and toughness is always a plus, but I agree that we don't need the good ol' hockey enforcer/brute anymore. At least not one that can't skate.

AV has talked multiple times about the Red Wings being a tough team to play against. It's not because they fight or have big hitters; it's because every one of their players plays 100% and finishes every hit and is physical no matter how small or "soft" they seem. Honestly, one of the main reasons the Flyers were picked over the Rangers so much in the 1st round was because the Rangers couldn't match up against the Flyers toughness. Well, the Rangers outhit, outmuscled, and outscrummed the Flyers all series long. Giroux was on his ass taking multiple heavy hits from every player in the lineup more than any other player on either team. The next round, Staal made Crosby his biatch. The Rangers were tough and physical and were definitely NOT pushed around from top to bottom in every aspect of the lineup.

With that said, it's very clear AV does like a guy like Dorsett or Carcillo in the lineup to provide energy with their antics. He's said it before in multiple interviews and constantly dresses at least one guy like that every night. The thing that made Dorsett so good is that his speed complements our style of play extremely well. But a guy like Boyle did okay and he wasn't exactly the best skater.

Before the playoffs started, all the small fast teams like us and Montreal were scared of a team like the Bruins size and physicality...saying we need to copy that format to have a chance at making it deep. Well now the Bruins are talking about getting rid of all their big tough guys and filling their roster up with speed because that's what wins nowadays. We can win with our own formula and a big slow guy isn't really necessary in my eyes. Now a big, tough, fast guy like Kreider for example is more than welcome.

From the start of the regular season to the end of the SCF, Zuccarello was the one player on our team that constantly went to the front of the net. The one player who constantly crosschecked the biggest guy on the ice in the scrums. The one guy that no other team could contain. I think that proves that size isn't necessary to be tough.
