Caps need to sign Ehrhoff.

Caps need to sign Martin, you already hired Todd Rierdon.

He has a limited no trade clause so it might take a few potential teams off the radar. Minnesota is most likely a team he would be good with considering he is from there and played college there.

Red Wings would most definitely be interested and I believe they are a team that did in fact contact the Penguins about him.

Detroit is the team I think could bring the best return ... better than Calgary or Edmonton for sure.

The fact extension talks arent open with Martin is a sign hes gone after this year. Should consider moving him

Also not bringing Gibbons back would be a mistake. He can play

So McKenzie is now reporting that Gagner isn't likely to stay with Tampa Bay at they are looking to move him. He also reported that PHX is a possible destination. What a weird situation.

My question, what was Yzerman thinking trading a good, solid player like Teddy Purcell to Edmonton for such an underachiever in Gagner in the first place. That deal ranks up there on complete idiocy.

It's a 3 way deal. Don't know what Zona gave up to get Gagner yet. I like Purcell too though his contract is pretty steep.

Purcell is a better player making 300k less than Gagner. Gagner's contract is horrid. 4.8 million for him?

6th round pick for Gagner and BJ Crombeen. Cap clearing moves by Tampa.

Tampa actually retained 1/3 of Gagner's salary. Not a bad way to go for Pittsburgh if they find an outlet for Scuds

@BaruchelNDG: My cat freed up some cap space on to my sandals.

@JoshYohe_Trib: No clue where this talk about Brodeur and the Penguins is coming from. Have heard nothing indicating interest from Pens. Makes zero sense.

I think this is one of those things that we would love to see but a GM would never do. It would solve a few issues. Couple years younger than Martin, can stick around for a couple years while everything is developing and then in 2 or 3 years we'll have completed the move to youth on D. Plus the assets for Martin like you said. Hell, we could dump Scuds for some picks and go into the season with Bennett in the top 6 and keep both too.

I'd pull the trigger on a Martin trade in a second. Get a decent 3rd line asset plus some picks back and I'd be happy.

Btw for all the Letang haters, this is why is was impossible for them to trade him. P Mart is going to command near $7 mill on his next deal. Pens cant write that check.

I've been all about being willing to move as much of this team as possible. The player mix they had wasn't working. The moves suggested by Gunner in this blog are exactly the kind of deals they need to make to reshape the roster.

Pens will probably make a move today. With Rutherford comments about free agency I wouldn't be surprised if a few deals are already done and will be announced early tomorrow.

I'm all for some moves... draft day was a bit too quiet with only one trade going down, and not even for an extra pick.
