yup, definately completely broken... hence missing the playoffs the past 4 years... wait. does that mean 29 teams were broken each of the past 4 seasons? and 29 teams will be broken for the rest of the future of the NHL?

I don't believe that Crosby can turn Gibbons into Dupes, or Jagr. I do believe that Sid needs someone that can help create on their own and give him the opportunity he needs to shine. I would rather be proactive in setting up the team over waiting until Dupes cant do anything to make arrangements. Stats show that Dupes was on the decline prior to injury last year over the previous year. The lockout year he was great, but also he might have benefitted from a shortened season. At 35 and coming off a knee injury, I highly doubt we see the Dupes when he was 33. And once again, the last several playoff years Sid has not done much in the playoffs with super duper, or really ever.

With regards to your cap situation, I would have preferred Shero made several very different decisions a long time ago that would have allowed for a more balanced roster over putting your best players on different lines.

I'm always a proponent of if its not broken, why fix it? You fix it when its broken. It was pretty obvious Crosby and Kunitz missed Dupes this year.

People are too enamored getting enigmas to fill in for Dupes on the first line and expect these players with alot of talent but questionable results or work ethic to put up 30.

My friend you and I value reason ... It's very apparent that if someone thinks kuni s 35 g / 70 PTs and plus 25 is broken they don't ... That's really it ... It's mind blowing!!! We should demote players on the anticipation that they will decline??? Wow ... I thought the buffalo and edm threads were ridiculous

Even Ryan Wilson is in favor of dropping Dupes. He is out of reason? Why bother here?

Those stats for Kuni are great and all....but.... it really doesn't matter... in the playoffs its all that counts... hes been a minus player every year since he won the cup and he gets some points in here and there, nothing dazzling. I think Kunitz and Crosby looked awful without Dupuis, hes got brutal hands but his motor after the puck is second to none and the other two can just be lazy slogs when its comes down to gritty hockey. They should see how that line can play again...but you gotta have some sort of other plan ready.... laugh all you want but that spot is made for Bennett, he shouldn't be on any other line.

Yes ... I like Ryan ... But we have to agree 100 percent of the time??? I love that people have differing opinions but again... Why demote players that have done nothing to deserve it? Makes zero sense

Somebody posted this on TIOPS. I'm not sure I expected someone to think Spaling is a key to that deal.

I thought everyone wanted change? Or is it change without the actual change part?
- PittsPens

this 100x

at the end of year, all i heard was lack of toughness and no one doing anything about sid getting beat like an orange-haired stepchild.

so people propose hemsky and dupuis on sid's line and the likes of brian gibbons and jayson megna on the 4th line.

last year's line up didnt scare anyone and this one sure as hell wont either.

That's really not what he said. He was very obviously talking about working in the corner, puck battles, hounding the puck carrier, etc, which he implies Crosby and Kunitz takes shifts off from doing. Which is fine, not every line has 3 guys who can motor around every single shift.

Sometimes I feel like this place is full of the type of Steeler fans that think Ben throws the ball too much and they should stick to a running offense. Even though the rest of the NFL has moved on.

If BB cant crack the top 6 I think it's time to move on. I really hope he does, he has a great shot and can drop some bodies.

New GM, entire new coaching staff, Neal, Orpik, Niskanen, Glass, Jokinen, etc gone, elevated roles for several young defensemen, Hornqvist and Spaling here, rumors of goalie shopping and a busy July 1st... Yeah, you're right, no changes...

Well, then based on the play-offs, we definately need to trade Sid's and Letang's asses. They have been brutally bad for two years and for Letang, three. People keep using the "play-off" performance thing for everyone else except for three players.

The only spot made for Bennett as we know him is in the pressbox and a spot on the IR. I wouldn't put heavy expectations on him whatsoever.

I'm in favor of the move and actually mentioned it on the last blog. If we could land Ehrhoff at less or even money as Martin, I think its great asset management.

But haven't hears much talk about what Martin can return. that's a very important ppart of the equation. What do u guys think we can get for martin? I'm thinking at least a young winger with top 6 potential...like a smith pelly, coyle, etem etc..,

It will be higher than zero, which is what they will get if they let him play out his contract.

Martin is better then erhoff ... If they move him it needs to be a quality return ... Otherwise play out the year and let him walk

Agree, and if they ride him out into the playoffs, he will be gone no matter what. If Ehroff can bring what Martin can, I think it's a no brainer.

No idea what the market would be for Martin or Ehroff.

Letang didn't have a bad playoff run. If you ask me Nisk, Maata, and Scuds struggled the most back there when it came to the post season. Crosby had a bad year because he was playing with Kunitz and a random while the other team was shutting him down. Once Crosby was shut down, those two couldnt do anything. I do agree about Bennett though...He has a durable as a glass vase.
