He has 27 g and 58 points over the last 80 games played ...( Agreed it would be nice to bring in a 20 something top six guy) why no?
- Brianandr1

His biggest asset is speed. With another year older and that injury I think he loses a step.

I don't think so. Dupuis is a workout freak surpassed only by Sid and possibly Letang. There's no way Dupuis doesn't come into training camp stronger and fresher than he's been in years. If he does, then he'll see reduced minutes in a bottom six role.

Guess we will see hope I'm wrong. Working out is great but age and injuries will slow you down

I am fine with this. I like Martin, but he is injury prone, missed as many games as 58 last year. He will not be on the team next season, why not ship him out now? No body is really going to thrive in BUFF at this point.

If this happens, the dynamic of the team has changed rather dramatically in a week or so.

His camp cannot be thrilled with this at all.

If the report of his asking price of $5.5 are true, he should still get it. But youre correct. He had the potential for go $6+ easy

Is SIDS like SARS? Star Instead Dupius Syndrome?

no disrespect to anyone who has been hurt by actual SIDS

- ChrisMS

Once again keeping Dupes on the 1st with Sid is exactly why Shero/DB are gone. Keeping players in their role just because has gotten this team no where in the past 5 years. Dupes had a good yr 2 yrs ago, knee surgery and at 35 its time to move on. They did great in the reg season, but most reg season games are a joke. Sids line has been innefective in the playoffs the last few yrs. Do I need to remind you again where Dupes was during the cup years?

you think? ok. but I think the pens, due to cap restrictions, are gonna find out if he lost a step or not before investing in a replacement

see above. its getting as old as the iginla debate. I stand by the fact Dupes IS gonna start there whether anyone on this board wants him to or not. IMO he should. pens need crosby and malkin to make their linemates better... its the reality that comes with having a salary cap and two of the worlds best players. dupes has shown he gets better AND makes crosby better. could someone with better credentials do that to? sure. but not with the limited cap space. pens need to pick up a couple of the 2-3 line range players to slot in whoever is best on the number one. dupius, stempniak, pouliot, kulimin, etc.

Aren't we trying to do things differently? How bout slotting guys were their talent dictates? Dupes is a great player but he's a 3rd liner. His numbers are good but he plays big minutes on an offensive team and his center is descent

The we need 87/71 to make line mates better is bullpoop. They do proofs in the pudding. If we are building a team for playoffs 87/71 need guys who can create when the ice is smaller and they're being taken away. Duper doesn't fit that description

you just described duper. sorta... he allows for crosby to create with his style. and its not bullpoop its a salary cap reality. wait till you see who chicago is gonna have to put on kane and toews lines soon. wait... didn't handzus center the second line? salary cap reality

You do realize that the Crosby line (with the guy you want to banish) was one of the top scoring lines in the ENTIRE NHL...and I'm just guessing...probably had very good possession numbers as a well.

I'd be curious to see the points/possession stats for that line, with and without Dupuis (after his injury last year).

Sids line was ineffective in the playoffs (later rounds specifically) primarily because teams hounded Crosby...and the Penguins lacked the 3rd and 4th line depth to try and rebalance the situation and keep teams from paying so much attention to Crosby

Nobody is saying that 87 or 71 needs a Hossa/Kane/Eberle on each wing, but come playoffs Dupes doesn't create on his own, Sid gets abused and nothing happens. Having Dupes on Sids wing is like buying a Ferrari and keeping it in the garage.

Yes I do realize that. Do you realize that was 2 yrs ago? Dupes was on pace for 15g this yr, not exactly smoking it for a top line winger with Sid. Do you realize for years fans/media have been calling Shero for a legit F for Sid, and due to cap and injuries Dupes fell into that role? Do you realize Dupes is a bottom 6 on every other team? Only the cap is keeping him there.

If the money only allows one to buy a ferari and a volvo you get one of each. you dont buy a ferarri and a hummer and miss out on the house payment... this metaphor thing isn't working for me right now. I've made my entirely valid point and again expect dupes on the first. JR isn't getting Vanek, said he isn't trading letang, and doesn't have the money to fill out the third and fourth if he gets a moulson etc. at least until dupes proves he is a bad option, or until the trade deadline, he is gonna start with crosby.

Interesting...fans and media are not coaches...what they think is not always right (and most certainly in a lot of cases is wrong).

I was pointing out facts...aside from your 15g pace...the rest of what you said is largely opinion.

Malkin played with Crosby a good bit these playoffs...they didn't score much either.

There is a perception that Crosby needs a scoring winger(s)...I simply disagree. He needs guys that win pucks and feed him and can score 20 goals. A top line that scores 90 goals sounds about right. Crosby 40...one wing 30...the other 20.

Nothing wrong with Dupuis on the 1st line. If someone can come in and do better than him in that spot so be it. Dupuis makes a hell of a third liner, but Sid is not the easiest to play with. Whoever replaces him will have to do all the things that Dupuis does + score more goals.

I wish Crosby would go back to shooting the puck like we was just before his concussion. Then maybe we'd see him out up 40+ again.
