wander what erhoff thinks about the this franchise, penguins seem to be a very polarizing team, either love them or hate em. we might not have a snowballs chance in heck.
but either way, i love paulie, but as long as we have someone that is of a similar caliber for the same or less salary hit, im cool with it.
i just dont think it has a real chance of happening. and as long as we at least shop the rights to martin then we wont be losing him for nothin, you hear me JR? - pensfan024
I'd sit down with Ehrhoff and make a good offer that will help the team win cups in the long run. $4M per, 4 years. He's already a rich man with the buyout.
If he wants to win he'll have his best chance with the Penguins.
Love the idea. |

I agree, but that goes with what Murray said, Ehrhoff didn't do enough to make this decision difficult, he's good, nothing more - sbroads24
You know very well my stance on offensive defensemen. There's nobody that's going to thrive without a competent forward group. That's why I find this buyout and Murray's comments a tad alarming. Of course Ehrhoff wasn't going "make the decision difficult". He doesn't play that type of position. He'd thrive in Pittsburgh, just as Sergei Gonchar did with them in 2009. |

There are quite a few teams he'd have a good chance with. There are rumors he wants no part of the west, but I have no idea how true they really are. San Jose, St. Louis, and possibly even LA could make a run for him. |

Colorado should definitely be a team that is aggressively in on Ehrhoff. Its not like the Penguins would be the only team interested. But they do have one of the better situations for him to step into. Colorado a decent option too. |

See my post above. Pittsburgh, Boston, and Detroit might be in the driver's seat merely because he supposedly wants to stay in the East. At least, that was the rumor when they were looking to trade him during the deadline. |

Boston isn't in the driver's seat for any kind of signing right now with their cap situation. |

Murray realizes that Ehrhoff is a complimentary piece that isn't vital to the future of the team. When we are ready, we will fill his shoes.
Same could be said for most of the team. |

Boston and Pitt don't have the cap space for a 4.5 mil dollar cap hit. DET is possibility ... We'll see! Colorado will make a push tho! |

We'll trade Martin to Colorado. He's better than Niskanen.

Pitt needs to fill 14 spots on the roster and still need to sign alot of they're RFA (15 mil cap space). Can't see Ehrhoff to Pitt. Even the reporter that follows the Pens believe they wont do a damn thing come July first. |

Ehrhoff is way to talented to be stuck in Buffalo. Only reason he was bought out was cuz ridiculous Term of the Contract. |

sounds like someone will be a lil sour if pitt gets erhoff and the avs dont.
nah im with ya, unless he was a fan of the pens when he was little or something, i dont think he will be joinin us. with all the negative publicity about this franchise lately, and how we exited the playoffs the last couple years, i cant see anyone who wants to join a contender coming to play for us. |

it needs a little upgrade |

cant hop on board with this.
while erhoff can be a good dman, he can also have stretches where he is just brutal.
with all the young dmen, penguins cant afford to have a night or day dman. they need the consistency that paul martin brings. |

It had more to do with the potential recapture penalty than the term. |

according to TIOPS, sounds like Penguins plan on making offers to Manny Malhotra, David Moss, and Kulemin.
thoughts? |

I like the added options ce and ej bring to fa. a defenseman could only come in if one goes out. martin would have suitors, especially after big d are takin. problem is does that leave us outside looking in for a top 6 and a couple 3-4 'ers? until martins traded |
