Chances of trading Sutter at this point? - YouMeAndDupuis9
Slim to none. I think they get a deal done fairly quickly. If they are looking for bottom 6 depth trading him just adds another hole |

I tend to agree with Rutherford it's not about the best guy it's about the right guy. We've had the best guys the past 5 seasons time to get the right guys. Not saying what he has done or will do will be right but they certainly weren't recently anyways. Tomorrow is a pretty big day but at least wait until mid season to start judging this team and new regime. Just my thoughts - dbell646
I believe that was a Herb Brooks quote lol. Honestly, I agree. I am holding back on initial reaction and/or overreaction to any moves. I do like the direction they went with the Neal trade with getting a net front guy, better 2-way play, etc. I like the Mike Johnston hiring because I think his system will be great with this team. But I like it all in THEORY. I'll wait till we start playing to really judge but I like the direction we're headed. |

Speed and synergy with Crosby... thats what he was. He was a 1st liner "with" Crosby. He probably may have gotten 2nd line play elsewhere after his first season on the Crosby line, he hit a 2nd prime in his mid 30s. I'd be very surprised, and definitely not upset, if he comes back this season without losing a step from last year. - Guile
Love Duper but I believe your statements are not accurate. He was put with Crosby out of necessity. He never sniffed the top line in any of his stops prior. He would be a 3rd liner in almost every other team that competes for a cup. I was fine with him being there for a while but at some point you have to put elite or high end talent with 87. |

To be honest I will wait until playoffs to judge the new regime and how they built the team. Look at LA, just moseyed along in the regular season and at times didn't even look very good during the regular season, but then the playoffs came and it was game time. If this new regime gets the same thing out of the Pens going forward, I am fine with a mediocre regular season, so I will wait until the playoffs to truly judge them.
Now that doesn't mean that I might get frustrated at times and complain about certain things throughout the regular season, but at the end of the day I don't care what this team does in the regular season anymore, but I like the sound of Johnston's approach of using the regular season to get things right and being ok with losing some points if they make progress in their game plan/system. |

You do realize you agreed with my view of him with the Crosby line... you only disagree with my believing he could have gotten 2nd line play in other teams after his first year with Crosby. I'm not saying hes a true 2nd liner, but he could have gotten it if for some reason we traded him.
So, you found half accurate |

We will all be in here screaming the sky is falling during the regular season. It's natural and we know they will frustrate us. |

Maybe Crosby's line is the 2nd line and Duper is already there and perfectly suited...
Are there any stats on which line Malkins or Crosby's stats per 60 minutes 5 on 5?

Big Duper fan as well, but he is best suited for the 3rd line. It should at least be everyone's hope that he is a 3rd liner this year because if he is not, our team will have a pretty serious flaw. Especially after the knee surgery that he just went through, who knows what he will look like. |

Yes I was fine with it as a short term fix until you could acquire someone else ie weeks not years. Sort of like I'm ok with a border line NHL/AHL guy filling in a game or 2. Not sure if you're trying to come off as a dbag but you're succeeding. |

This is the biggest issue I see with the team as currently stands. We have a good team on paper, even the bottom 6 isn't too bad when you have Sutter/Dupes/etc. But we are paper thin with depth. I realize injuries can cripple any team but it just seems we are particularly thin right now. I hope FA can fill that void. And I think more top 6 caliber guys should be looked at in FA. |

Really well put... I know that we live and die on every roster move, but I'm going to give this management group the benefit of the doubt in constructing their roster based on their plan.

Hey at least they have a plan. I think we are all uncomfortable because of the way some of the process was handled and Rutherford is unkown to us. |

What's going on with the whole Johansen-Blue Jackets saga. If I'm Columbus, i am locking him up for 8 years. He is a future superstar. |

If I'm Johanssen I'm signing a 2 year offer sheet knowing CBJ will match then I'm headed for UFA....
Kinda what Tavares shoulda done....

I love all the people who think Duper is going to the 3rd line. The guy is our first line winger until he loses the spot, and he hasnt yet. Right now we have nobody else to take it from him.
First line will remain unchanged while Geno gets BB and Hornqvist. - thickman1178

Yes! Everyone is critiquing every minor move the Pens make. Take the old Indian approach of "We'll see", it'll save you on the beer runs. |
