True...that's why I said "type of guys". Do you have any other names out there that could Fit their mold? Could we consider David Moss one of them? - Orpik44
I think we had someone who fit that mold last year: Lee Stempniak |

I like Santorelli, Moss is another option. |

I like Stempy. I think he'd be a nice player on the 3rd line. Honestly, he was one of our better players in the playoffs. |

When does the UFA period officially begin. Is it midnight tonight, or noon tomorrow? |

I know CH had a long contract, but his cap was only $4, was his play that bad? Buff needs to hit the floor what was the reason behind the buyout? |

Dunno why everyone excludes megna on their roster.. He has shown he can play and put up points with geno. He has speed skill and grit and would fit in the 4th line role and can be bumped up to 2nd or 3rd line if there were injuries in games.
Also thoughts on getting justin peters as a legit backup... only ufa with ties to Carolina I want... - nh4442
No thanks... he's not a legit backup. He's a decent AHL goalie who can be an injury fill in at the NHL level if needed. Not a bad guy to have in your organization, but not as a #2. |

10M cap penalty if he retired with one year left on his contract. Even if he was traded the Sabres would be on the hook for that.
Buyout had nothing to do with his play, just the silly recapture penalty. |

On the original topic of this board I would look to the Islanders to deal Paul Martin to. He is the caliber defender they seem to be always attempting to get but can't land. Trading one to them under contract could be big for them. They have some pieces we would be interested in for sure. Thoughts? |

PM has some form of a NMC. Don't know the details, but it seems nobody wants to go to the island and I'd imagine the same goes for Martin. Probably would have to be a contending team. |

If the controlling team doesn't qualify them as an RFA, then yes. |

I think Scuds does as well. I guess Buff needs to hit the cap floor, I asked the Buff board what it would take to land Scuds, basically Scuds + 2nd or 3rd for a 6th. |

What about getting Milan Michalek for Malkin's line. Good size speed and finishing touch. He is 29 but his off year last season might make him easier to sign than Jussi. |

Ideally yes. Not sure you can get those kind of prospects for a guy with one year left on his deal. |

I just spent the last 15 minutes looking through the CBA, and read through every part I could find about compliance buyouts, regular buyouts and free agency, and I couldn't find anything specific.
In the Standard Player's Contract has this line:
(e) Upon termination, the Player shall immediately be an Unrestricted Free Agent and shall no longer be obligated to perform under this SPC.
To sum things up, I have no idea of the answer |
