Weber does have some use to this team right now. He's a hard worker. He can help show the young guys the ropes. The problem is that he's really just a 5-6 guy at best. He has good moments and bad moments.

Weber isn't enough though. They need to bring in another veteran voice that actually has some talent as well.

He's an AHL defenseman and has been for years. The only thing young guys will learn from him is how not to be an NHL defenseman.

I've heard differing reports. Mine centered around Pat being difficult to work for (general) but also many people believing Pat's concussion issues (forgetting what he's said and repeating himself in many conversations) caused people to really lack respect for him.

My guess would be that it's a combination of all of these things. I'd heard from a few places that LaFontaine is off his rocker. And that was before he was even brought in by Pegula. He has trouble remembering to pay his bills and various other tasks like that.

He's a sufficient player in the 5-7 role on a team that's outside the playoffs. I'll have an issue with him if he's still on the team in 3 years when this rebuild should really start to show the beginnings of a scary ass team.

Everyone is available for the right price . luckily we have money to spend. Imagin having Tims expense account for the Sabres ?

Yea I know it doesn't matter whether he's here or not now, but I don't think I have ever disliked a player more than him. He does the dumbest things

This year is going to be about having guys that can teach the young kids that even if they're not winning, there's things they can do to continue to improve. The issue I have with him being the sole person doing that, is that hard work can only take someone so far. There has to be real talent to go along with it.
- HonkFortheGoose

That's why I gotta think TM has his aim at getting someone in on D that can do this who is skilled , motivated, and been around. Niskonen, on a sterling new contract might do, but I'm thinking Willie Mitchell or Robidas as more of a veteran presence.

Can you name anyone with less of an ego that will stay positive in the locker room no matter what? I agree He's AHL material, but we are tanking...we just got rid of (maybe) our most skilled Dman cus he was coasting...We want Mc Eichel but do not want cancer in the room at the same time.

So besieds Weber, at 24 years old, who's the veteran Dman the kids will look up to every night? Really....who?

I think Robidas stays with Anaheim if they want him. Unfortunately he got injured and didn't get to finish the year out after being traded, so I think he might have a chip on his shoulder about being able to help them. So as long as they offer him something, he stays put. Especially since that team is pretty freaking insane too.

Mitchell is a hard read, but I think if he leaves LA, he stays out west.

How do you think that goes down? He's not an FA. I'm assuming you think via trade, but who exactly would we be sending Chicago in return?

We may be throwing a ton of $$ around in a couple days if the player is right....You're right about Robidas, but he may be expendible if Anaheim has cap decisions to make and he gets high-balled by us.

Mitchell imo would be a great fit here...again, we got the cash if it's a player TM targets.

Zadorov needs to go back to Jr for this year. He needs more time developing. There are still inconsistencies in his game at that level he needs to work out.

I wish he could go to the AHL, but the stupid CHL transfer rules won't allow it.

He will be 27 this season.

And to be honest, I hope players don't look up to him, I hope they easily take his job. Just being honest, he's sucked for 80% of his time as a Sabre

But again, they could dress anyone and it won't matter
