With Ehrhoff gone, anyone want to guess how many Sabres on my 2013 Sabres calendar are still with the team?

do we sign anyone on Tuesday?
- mhp

Maybe. Maybe not. As of right now, with 14 guys on the roster, we're 20 mil below the cap floor. That's with only $325k of Kaleta's contract showing due to him having been in Rochester to end the season. He'll actually account for $1.25 mil if he's on the NHL roster. Just with the 5 guys that are RFAs, they'll get pretty close to the floor.

I think they'll have to sign one or two guys, especially on D, for depth for at least the next year or two.

I'm pretty sure I also heard the rumor that Ott and Moulson's agents had been contacted by Murray. So we could see something happen with that too.

My guess is we trade for someone and make offers. The players we make offers to will check in with 29 teams and the one's that realizes this is the best they're going to do will probably sign a short term deal here. It sounds sad but that's the current reality we face, I have no doubt that we'll sign players but I don't think it will happen during the first day.

Yea I don't expect anyone to sign on the 1st might take a while to sign anyone. Can't wait till Tuesday when everyone starts freaking out that we arn't signing anyone.

Murray said the trade talk subsided so I'm not sure we will see one but my guess is we make a solid offer to Moulson.

Probably mid-twenties, right? Sounds like a teenager rebelling against his parents curfew. And the rest of the guys on the station pump him up like the second coming.

Murray did say the other day that not all of the RFA's will be qualified and my guess is he was thinking about McBain. Ennis will cash in this summer.

Could be McBain. Could be Conacher. Either of them would be my guess, since the other 3 are Foligno, Ennis and Ruhwedel.

To lazy to check the UFA list but Buffalo is a perfect fit for someone looking for a short term contract who is trying to take the next step in their career or looking to bounce back. Lots of ice time up for grabs and if you do well you will get your payday on your next UFA contract.

I don't know about that. Guys that are trying to bounce back aren't going to want to be on the team that finished dead last and looks to be poised to do it again.

I could see a guy like Orpik coming here though. He's got ties to the area and has mentioned before that he would like to play here. That was quite a few years ago though, so he may have changed his tune. He's also slowed down considerably and I think the number of suitors for him will be small as it was obvious he had trouble keeping up numerous times this year.

I doubt he was referring to guys that wouldn't be on the active roster here. But you could be right.

Knapp has been sort of a disappointment and with the plethora of young goalies we have, something has to give somewhere.

From what I was told when LaFontaine met with Pegula and his wife before the job was offered to him, after he was hired he was told he would have complete say so. That changed because Pegula's wife was interfering on a daily basis and LaFontaine had enough. There were other obstacles as well, don't shoot the messenger just going off of what I was told after LaFontaine was hired. I'm not trying to sound like a know it all I just asked my uncle because I thought it was very strange because of how long Pegula was trying for LaFontaine.
