We may have more wins but I doubt we finish much higher than 29th
- SabresFaninIndiana

Oh i know for a fact we will finish last, but it's going to be better hockey, more girgenson stories less leino stories

Take a read. It's another well written article by Travis Yost's protege about how Niskanen will realistically be overpaid because he'll be expected to do more than he actually can.

The problem is that up until last season Myers was a disaster in both ends, not just offensively. If Myers had played really well in the defensive end, he'd probably get the same "pass" Ehrhoff did.
- buffalofan19

He was a "disaster" for 40 games in a short season. Same amount of games that Ehrhoff played great and Weber looked like an NHL'er

The criticism of Myers up until the short season was that he wasn't consistently good. He started every year slow.

Source? Who said that?
- Cheeseballin

Im not going to source every (frank)ing presser they had, not to mention both have interest in coming back. Buffalo wont offer them more than what the warrant and they know that. They are interested in coming back because they are interested in being part of the rebuild.

I just feel sorry for all of us who pay for this product.. A rebuild is a rebuild this is gutting we may not be good to 2019
- hafgod

Gutting eh. Take a look at our prospect system. One more draft and we're going to be like a (frank)ing dragon that just hatched in Game of Thrones.

Maybe but I doubt it, people love to rag on Myers.
- BigStew

They do, they also make stuff up out of thin air

Since when is a 10g 27a season for a defensemen not good production ?
Yet that was Myers 2nd year, but according to most "He's only had 1 good year "

All of us on here either pay for merchandise and tickets and some for both. So we are all suffering the equal amount as the next guy. If you are buying season tickets then stop no one is forcing you to buy them. Seriously don't complain about spending money when honestly it's all on the spender. Sabres are in a rebuild don't expect huge things from them. It's common sense really.

Now a fan base that should be disappointed are the Canucks and Capitals among others.

- Jammerz04

A rebuild is more than drafting we have done nothing else.. Don't know if u were there at any games last year but it was miserable.. No Miller, Ehrhoff, Vanek, Ott or Moulson... Its going to be more miserable this year.. Please don't lecture me about cost as your flicking your remote

Ehrhoff could have accepted waivers, been picked up by someone else on the Sabres' current contract, and Buffalo would still be on the hook for the potential recapture.
- buffalofan19

But who in their right mind would accept waivers to just go to another bad team? Exactly no one. If you are a player and you have the choice of bypassing waivers and go to a team of your own choosing wouldn't you take it. It's basically 0% chance that what you are saying would ever happen.

They will both sign with other teams. They can make the same money elsewhere and have a chance to win. A lot of teams will be calling them July 1

The only thing that seems to stand out is that other teams would like to have Myers, that says something IMO.

Take a look at the Devils' prospect system and their current team. I'll be a Sabres fan 10x over because they have no immediate future to speak of.

That's funny....I get we all want to drink the rebuild koolaid.. They don't have a top 6 forward in there system expcept Reinhardt. Tell me one prospect we have that is a legitimate top 6 on a team that would contend for the cup.....

I heard the asking price is a good one though. A player, prospect and a 1st.

BUt I'm hoping he is not traded. He's my favorite NHL player playing for my favorite NHL team.

At his contract, only certain teams can afford to take on that cap space. It's a lot better than a 0% chance.

I think it was safe to assume Nisk would be overpaid in the UFA market.

Yea I watched him, and I saw him still play inconsistently. He was much better, but I still don't see him having the same type of year that scored him a calder. Not to mention Murray has been shopping him since he got the job, Myers isn't in the long term blue prints
- Boxer14

He is not shopping him . He gets lots of phone calls on him . Big Difference . Other teams see the massive potential as well.

We have a few guys that project as 2nd liners, a few with top line potential as well.

We also don't need any top 6 players this season, so in fine with having prospects in Rochester and drafting high

I would certainly take a flier on him as long as no one expects him to be a top pairing guy. He's the right age to sign a long contract for hopefully not a ton of money. I just mentioned the blog so everyone has an idea of what they're looking at. Nisk and Orpik would be the guys I look to first. But now with an immediate top 4 hole.. who else but Niskanen..

Are you insane? Lol. Seems like you pay no intention to our prospects.

Here is a list possible top 6 forwards for the future for us...

Grigorenko
Armia
Reinhart
Bailey
Fasching
Baptiste
Compher
Possler
Carrier
Lemieux
