They aren't being brought in (if they do come back) to save us or make us a playoff team, they would come back to help better the team and the young players. Also making Hodgson and Ennis better players.

Oduya, Niskanen just to name a couple off hand would be a nice addition. I have to question Niskanen because if how good he was with the Pens and average with the Stars.

I know we can't front load contracts but what if we signed ennis to a one year 7 or 8 mil contract then mid summer signed him to a more long term reasonable contract? Cap circumventing?

I'd hate that.. I don't want to give Ennis anything more than 5 million.. Even that's too much but hearing he wants 5 and a half so I'd do 3 years 15 million dollars with a 5 million average to be fair.. I wouldn't give Foligno more than 1.5 million either... doesn't deserve it.. Maybe offer him a bridge contract.. 2 years 3 million total

We are a tenth into the offseason. Its a well known fact that the sabres roster would look completely different this year. I guarantee we get more wins this season than last.

It looks like we are trying to tank. Plain and simple. No free agent will come here unless grossly overpaid or way past his prime...Who knows if Muarray has the stones to make real hockey trades.... Glad the nhl is stepping to stop what teams like Buffalo are doing

I don't believe that at all.

Ehrhoff is a valuable asset, everyone can agree on that. You don't buy someone out with value like that. There are certainly concrete reasons why his buyout came to fruition. A two minute phone call to Bettman from TM would have him beyond convinced that it was a smart move because of the recapture along with the fact that he simply doesn't want to be a part of the rebuild like most of our last core.

Heh. Remember how awful our "core" was. Glad that's out of the way.

I don't understand some people. We are not tanking. If we were tanking we would have kept Regier and Rolston. Miller, Moulson and Vanek had to go because they were going to leave for nothing. This is not tank it is called a rebuild.

Rebuilding and tanking go hand in hand. You want to rebuild your franchise you need to

get rid of your old core, check.
Get rid of your old management and coaching, check
and then find young elite talent to build around, in progress

Rebuilding involves a transition period where your team will be bad at some point in which you will wind up with a very good draft pick. Call it tanking rebuilding or whatever but they usually involve taking the same path.

I'm not saying he deserves it. Just trying to hit the floor and maybe provide cap relief down the road. If you gave him 8 for one year then extended him another 3 years for 10-12 mil. That's 4 years for 18-20 mil.

Look at the distractions Buffalo Had to deal with all of last season. almost your entire veteran core wanted out. Rolston's record in the beginning of last season was abysmal and Nolan will have more tools in the tool box. Girgensons won't be alone on offense and ennis, cody, stafford will take this team as their own. It will be better.

It could also simply be simply because Buffalo is willing to pay them more than anyone else.

All of us on here either pay for merchandise and tickets and some for both. So we are all suffering the equal amount as the next guy. If you are buying season tickets then stop no one is forcing you to buy them. Seriously don't complain about spending money when honestly it's all on the spender. Sabres are in a rebuild don't expect huge things from them. It's common sense really.

Now a fan base that should be disappointed are the Canucks and Capitals among others.

Murray already has shown he "hates" almost everyone else in the league by his actions on draft day and in his interviews.

The problem is that up until last season Myers was a disaster in both ends, not just offensively. If Myers had played really well in the defensive end, he'd probably get the same "pass" Ehrhoff did.
