What in the world did you see in Myers that he is a cornerstone of a blueline?
- Boxer14

I don't get the notion that he has to be elite or has to be traded.

Personally I think he's a god damn weapon and of our prospects turn out he'd be a perfect top pairing guy to go with Risto.

Wait.. Capgeek all ready has those in there..

It says Buffalo has 38,580,834 in cap space...

If the floor is 51 million... That's something like 12.41 million to get to the floor isn't it?? Or am I missing something there..

- bluengold12

38 million in cap space not cap payroll. The 38 million is what we could spend to get to the cap ceiling

I never once used the word cornerstone.

Refer to my previous explanation as to why he's not worth trading.

-He's 24, barely entering his prime.
-Yes his offense has decreased, but his two way game is becoming much more well rounded
-He's starting to become the physical player he has the potential to be
-His overall skill is improving every year, with the inconsistencies growing smaller.
-Established top 4 if not top 2 defenseman in this league already, there's no way he degrades from that.

There is absolutely not a single reason on this planet to get rid of him unless there's overpayment involved.

- TheSabresTaco

Speaking of offence, I find it funny how some people give Erhoff's offensive game a pass because we were crappy but they won't do the same for Myers.

I can assure you Im not, Ill listen to hockey hotline but thats it. Im just saying a 24 yr old myers with decent money is going to warrant more money than a 27 yr old with similar results behind him and Murray knows that. Would you bet on myers becoming a #1 d man in the next three years?
- Boxer14

This statement does not warrant a trade.

His offense improved this year despite the teams offense falling off a bridge

Who will want to come here....Why cant Ehrhoff play for buffalo next year. did he demand a trade
- hafgod

I bet a few players come here via trade.. But I don't think the loss of Ehrhoff changes the players minds very much around the NHL.. sure it makes our D depth shrink a bit but its not like he was an all star player. Couldn't trade him because of the stupid recapture penalty

There is every reason to, He may only be 24 but hes no yougin either, the hockey world on offensive defensmen moves fast i.e mike green. You have to manage risk and value potential and the risk associated with another year of inconsistent play or injury with hurt that value.

It really wont be difficult to do. Sign our RFAs, while bringing in four vets, and we are over 20 mil.

I am guessing Orpik is a lock to Buffalo at this point.

- SABRES 89

Who cares? The team will still be a bottom feeder. Moulson and Ott don't really want to be here they just know the money will be there fore them.

I could care less what they do in July 1st, nothing out there that jeopardizes rebuild plans.

World cup fever has also made me numb to anything the sabres do. If the Netherlands or Belgium win the world cup they could buy out Myers and I wouldn't flinch

The Buffalo News kinda explained it with exact quotes from Murray. The buyout happened because his contract is untradable. Also, he wasn't interested in being a part of the rebuild, and his play didn't warrant the risk of the recapture. Also, we got rid of him for free this year instead of maybe buying him out regularly in the next couple of years, which would have whacked us anyway with recapture. So any way you look at it, this is the best possible move the Sabres and Ehrhoff could have made, collectively.

The difference is that's not all a #1 defenseman is supposed to do. Nobody expected Ehrhoff to be a #1, nor did the Sabres pay him to be one. The standards are different for Myers because they are supposed to be.

Mike Green's noodle broke, IMO had that not happened his career would have looked a lot different.

With all this extra money and #10 suddenly available pretty sure we can offer Tallinder $7 million and his old number to stick around and clean little Tylers room. Then I can get my Ehrhoff jersey changed to a Tallinder and tell everyone I wear it cuz I admire Hanks leadership. This fixes everything!

Ah... okay okay.. I always thought the capspace was what determines what you need to get to floor.. So with $30,419,166 of salary means we need to spend roughly 20.59 in cap space... Shoot that will be tough..

I like I said see us trading for 2 or so guys now that the floor is even bigger to get too.. Also Ennis will be wildly over paid..
